Bits, Dot Comedy, Cybercafe.

Don’t you people feel offended by these programs? I for one do. Whenever either of the above 3 TV proggies are on I feel totally ashamed since they are, as far as I can gather, aimed at guys around my age (me being 19) They seem to treat us like a total bunch of w#@kers and make the internet look like a p0rn shop/terrorist handbook/freak show.

Neither of the above programs give any useful information at all, in fact, there is no computer program on terrestrial television that is solely about computers/internet or even P.C games that's any good, except the increasingly console oriented Cybernet which, for some bizarre reason, is on at about 3 in the morning!

Cybercafe is especially shite as it sports that total tosser Richard Whatever (ex big breakfast) Dot Comedy has that old dog wossername and bits? Well, that is just total bollocks. Trying to sell a TV show based on the fact that it contains 3 (totally thick, not that good looking, and immature) 'women' and no real content is just sad.

But i digress. The content in bits is pretty poor. But then, it is not aimed at "hardcore" gamers such as us and to some complete playstation / dreamcast / n64 newbie they are probably very relevant.

dot comedy i barely saw, tho the bits i did see looked pretty crap.

cybercafe i've not seen.

Well, not knocking porn, i just think that a 'real' show about computers and the internet would be pretty good, so long as it got the right balance between content aimed at newbies and content aimed at power users.

Also, these shows, like cybercafe and dot comedy are all well and good to show to people who have already discovered some of the great stuff you can do with the internet but I know if i had never used the internet before, these TV shows would definatly not get me rushing out to grab a modem or freeserve disc.

The way these programms portray the internet is discusting i think things like this will stop stump the growth of the internet in this country, especially amoung the 30+ age groups.

I used to enjoy GamesMaster when it was on, especially watching Dominic Diamond make no effort at all to justify the inclusion of the nubile females. Getting Jo Guest to straddle a ski simulator arcade machine was inspired.

The best computer related programme I remember was that one with Andy Crane and the annoying short woman (as you can probably guess I can't remember her name) - not at all sensationalist and actually covered some pretty interesting topics. Sadly I can't even remember what the programme was called, suffice to say it had one of those "DataBurst" things at the end where the "kids at home" were told to set their video to record...

Ahh happy days.

The problem these shows have is that most people who watch them are the sort of people who think that X-windows is the name of a pornsite, and that HomeHighway is another of John Prescott's transport ideas.

Outright ignorance of technology is what is driving up the salaries of CS graduates, so its not all bad from my perspective though..

anyway, bits is the only gaming program i watch on TV, i used to watch dot comedy, but that was only coz it had gail porter on it and it was oon after frasier.

i think bits is one of the best gaming shows on TV, they cover more PC stuff, and seem know slightly more than other shows about the PC gaming world... Have you ever watched Cybernet? god thats pants, even the name was thought up in less than a minute.

You just have to look past the cheap presentation.

When people say "they're so thick, they know nothing about games" I think, are you actually bothering to pay attention to this or are you wondering why you're sitting there at 2am when you could just go to bed, and considering putting your limp cock away because there's no pr0n on channel 5 only a cheap 1980's 2-star thriller, and thinking about getting some food and going on the net because all the info you need is there anyway?

A TV programme for "power users" is completely pointless because they spend all their time on the internet. Therefore I don't see the existing programmes changing very fast.

Bits I stumbled across a couple of times, was blatantly 'Vidz' for games, but without the same quality of cast

Dotcomedy had a few amusing bits... and Gail is gorgeous TBH though, ask yourself: remove the pr0n and how're you gonna make decent telly out of the 'net?
