I think he used loads of det packs in the Red Faction demo to make a Big bang in the Extra level.

Has anyone managed to get out of that room, or is just there to blow up? I thoughtn you might be able to blow through the walls to another room but no luck
Also is that machine gun you get on that level, in the other level on the demo (where you could use it to good effect?)

No, I didn't find the assault rifle in the main section of the demo, or the fixed MG. Pistol headshots did the job though

Ok, im the authority on half-life here so Ill comment, in Half-Life the detonator button is slighty bigger, red, and on the front, it also has a small cover to protect gordans chubby fingers from jabbing it by mistake. Also the pack is slightly more square and the ariel is longer.
