Well, that wouldn't change anything then :) it's not like they're stopping the AC'ing, is it? :p

I thought this post was worthy of a bump.

Lots of views on here some I agree with some I dont.

I'm sure when Requiel is back from his Italian Holiday :)) ) then he might be able to tell us what GOA propose to do if anything.

I know already he's stated that AC is not griefing, when people who have run these raids have openly said that they went and did an AC to do exactly that grief the other realm. (some even said on here they would AC the server to kill it or something along those lines, could'nt be arsed to did it out). Can supply names etc if needed).

I'm probably more concerned at the moment with the numbers on the server, Requiel's also said GOA are in the process of making plans so that 'When' they deem the time is right something can be done, perhaps they need to discuss this with us first so we know whats in store.

Or perhaps they wont do anything and just hope we all disappear when WAR is released and then they can quietly close the server?

anyway in my view it needed a bump.

Nice summary Eble one thing we should add to this is as follows:

we found out from other sources that on Mythic servers people have dropped keeps to level 1 to get movement back into relics and no-one has been banned for acting against the spirit of the game.

I think GOA need to re-examine what was said to me in a conversation that they could not see any case where such a thing would not be against the spirit of the game. As quoted here.

Note this is not about the specific decision in this case its about foreclosing any further action by the community to try and protect itself from such attacks. Until we have that answer the book remains open and it remains a serious problem.

Mate you are like a dog with a bone can't you let it go now?

Given albs cannot stop AC raiding I do not see why he should.

I appreciate that is asking for a flame ridden response but the whole issue is longevity of the game and that needs the RvR situation to be enjoyable. AC raids are not.

The saving grace this time is they got their own relic back - let's hope it stays at just that.

Let's see. There's Requiel, Xalin and some random gm that logged on for the first time on Dyvet. Now a normal gm would keep an eye out on the boards (or ingame) for events such like ml's/dr's/df/rvr raids, but these log in whenever they got time (which isnt a whole lot it seems).
Anyways Requiel starts a thread about something (i forgot about what really) and then buggers off.

Not sure if this is a french thing, but anyways. This will prolly get modded by Flimgoblin, cause its too close to the truth and it can't stand the daylight because of it.

ie. Dyvet WTB some fking active gm for a change!

Ive no idea what the contractual arrangements are between GoA and Mythic but clustering the English cluster with their US coutner parts is probably the most streight forward way to ensure there are always defenders online.

If that was to be, I would reopen my accounts the very same day.

And whats more hopeless anyway.

The alb ac crew (which atm is taking crim/crau everynight)?
The people backing them up on these forums?
The fact that GM's refused todo anything about it, but if someone lowers a keep they suddenly act.
Or the fact that some gm writes a thread about a discussion ^^ and then buggers off.

Why do people get so worked up about AC raids?

You have had many and varied replies, but for me i believe we get worked up because it is something that can happen on the Euro Servers, whether it should or shouldn't happen in my opinion is immaterial as there are good arguements for both sides (and we've heard them all to death). AC raids are just another nail in the coffin for the cluster. I moved to US classic and haven't looked back since, there is no such thing as an AC raid so one less thing to get 'worked up about'

Perhaps i shouldn't be posting but as long as this is something that isn't going to change I won't be coming back to my EU home.

heh, if they don't post they get complained about for not talking to the community.

If they do post they get complained about for not posting enough in the thread.

Not entirely sure what you want/expect Requiel to post here Sharkith tbh

(and nor have I any idea where all this "oh they're being french" crap comes from...

especially since not a single english GM is french...)

Well as mentioned before. He makes a thread in which he wants to start a discussion and ask's a couple of things about AC'ing. What is his purpose behind this thread?
Just to see the same reply's about ac'ing for the 100th time and go; "ok (some) people find it lame, fair enough".
A discussion is where 2 sides participate, but in this case he starts the discussion and then leaves. Unless his intention is to get the pro ac'rs discussing with the nogo ac'rs, but in that case we've done it all before, way to many times.

Lots of people have givin their thoughts on this subject in this thread. It is his job (people pay to play you know?) to have a feeling with the community. Imho this means a little more then just apply'ing the rules when somebody RN's them.

Yeye didn't mean to tell him todo his job, but nvm.

How about a response, or is that to much to ask or expect ?

too much to ask and expect cause....
GOA customer relations is crap..

never heard of a company with such bad PR as that 1

if it had been mythic on the other hand we would prob have had a reply
before the question was asked.

When Req made the thread I got my hopes up that this may possibly be an attempt by GOA to understand the points of view and help people come to an in game compromise. However Req subsequently made it perfectly clear that this was not the case, it was not made in any way to help GOA but was an attempt to get various parties to understand each other better.

In some ways it was laudible, but as most of us know it was never going to work as the various points of view have been shared, expressed and re-made on other threads at other times.

I would not expect to see a response from GOA here as I suspect, like many of us, they have not got a clue quite what to do for the best.

There is some good stuff in here that GOA/Mythic could take into account if they ever decide to think about a way forward but for the rest of us best let the thread die rather than re-hash old arguments in which people will never agree.

Actually if you read his post before he left it seems to me to indicate that he would like to respond to some of the points made. Not only this but The thread has unearthed something he did not know previously.
a) people AC'ed relics to grief others
b) we know that keeps have been dropped on servers controlled by Mythic to help change relics and keep the game alive and no-one has been banned. GOA stated to me in the messages I sent to them that under no conditoions would they see that as NOT against the SToG
c) people would have liked GOA to take this to Mythic - and of course no answer...

Given a) GOA have failed to act on behalf of their customers.

Given b) GOA went on to bar their customers from trying to find their own solution.

I think they owe us a little more than what they have given us. Otherwise I would not have bumped the thread. Clearly others agree with me.

Apart from that Flim I see an awful lot of good in this thread. Possibly the most constructive discussion there has ever been here. It represents the best chance to sort the problem out but as usual it is let slide and the whinging wins.

It completely escapes me why Requiel would not want to try and make suggestions for a way forward.

Finally, I cannot see why you would want the discussion to just go away. Its like no-one can actually scrutinise anything that the company we pay does without being called a qq'er. I think people should grow up. Just grow up.

some do i guess, the office hours raids were imho a clear attempt to grief back...

releasing a tower / keep is perfectly legal.

releasing is fine ... someone else can take over.
setting to 1 and refusing to let somone else take over / put on a higher level = sabotage... actions clearly against the own realm are a no-go.

Sharkith said:

ofc not, what do you expect ? you think mythic wants to piss off xx players who left goa to come to them by saying they are wrong ? gimme a break. if people would have quit, mythic might have reacted, people who move from one server to another, or even, from europe to US won`t catch mythic attention, lol

goa reacted, they took the right descision. what is your problem appart from the fact that you don`t like their decision ?

lol, do you think he is santa claus who is gone magic 1000 extra players out of nowhere ?

Im going to wade in with my view on here as an alb.

What TT did was a little bit naughty BUT it was justified as it helped the rvr. Noone wants 50 albs with 20% relics zerging every man and his dog from hib/mid.

Soloers can solo, 8 mans cant really 8 man, unless they use an external messaging program to set something up(think that was frowned upon by GOA)

GOA should have just kept out of it, instead of coming up with a lame excuse to punish the few who wanted to help the realm.

Im sure the ones that complained were all Albs? If that happened when I was playing, yea I would be pissed but Id see the bigger picture. The server is at a low, TT were just trying to give some life to it by making it seem more balanced. Rather than the 6 fgs with 20% relics vs 3 fgs with 0 relics.

I hate alarm clock riads, Ive been through them to defend and once had the one Bubble organised. On the AC raid Bubble had, it was a dull raid, almost like a ml, with a zerg of albs stuck to the leader as it zipped around the frontiers.

AC defending is dull too, not much a solo armsman can do vs 2 fg of opted Mids at 6 in the morning, no matter how much tactics you use!

Ok, I'm back from my holiday, I'm jet lagged abd I've had to catch up with a lot so bear with me if this isn't particularly focussed.

Firstly I have been contributing and respondiong to this thread. Even when I was away on holiday I made several replies and tried to make clarifications where they were needed. This thread stopped being active for a week or so and so I left it. I've made seven posts in this thread, that hardly qualifies as 'making a post then buggering off'.

As I said previously, this is mostly a thread for you and not a thread for us at Goa. There's little realistically that we can do regarding AC raids. The point was to get various people with strong feelings to debate calmly about it and try to reach a common understanding. Largely, I get the feeling that this has worked at least to some degree.

My view is that this is a population issue and we are currently looking at options for Dyvet to try and ameliorate the situation there. Hopefully we'll have something we can announce to you soon.

Muly,

I am not responding to the rest of your post until you directly respond to this point. You always ignore this simple fact. On Mythic servers keeps are regularly dropped to level 1 and no one gets banned. Your ignoring that the people who made the game disagree with you. I dunno what it is with you and your selective reading.

So go on Muly what are you going to say to that? Mythic don't see lowering a keep to level one as against the SoTG. I have post on VN boards were people have said GOA's actions were wrong.

Requiel said:

Thank you Requiel for your replies. There can be no doubt that population is the root of the problem. I would like to see your response to the information we have from servers ran my Mythic in the US....
