You can try figuring out how you're going to stop the attacks all you like, you're not going to find anything workable though. You can minimise, you can't stop them. The problem with Americans is they think everything can be "fixed", and have a very hard time coping with complex messy real world shit. Your final point proves mine; you attack their country, you're getting fucked up. How's that working out then?

Well, as they aren't being attacked any where near as often as us, I'd say whatever they're doing is working ok.

Ohio State, Boston Marathon, Chattanooga, San Bernadino, Orlando. Ring any bells? US death rate since they started bombing the shit out of everyone is not that different to ours; 79 to 93, and the number of attacks is higher (most of the UK numbers come from 7/7). So nothing fixed as far as I can see.

Um, firstly, carried out by an entirely different group with an entirely different agenda.

Secondly, freak events should not always be used for statistical purposes because they mess up the result, it would change the average number to hundreds/thousands when in reality it is in the 10s.

Seriously though, given the restrictions we can place on football hooligans, paedos etc, and the number we already have on a watch list, I'm struggling to see how we can't bring in something similar for the snackbars.
Wow. Why not christians too? I mean, if you're going to equate people of faith with paedos and violent criminals then why just the muslims?

Outright racism there. The only thing you didn't say was the word "nigger".

Yes, since that's when bombing the shit out of Muslims to sort their problems out started. Of course you start with 9/11 and whether they call themselves Al-Qaeda, ISIS, or Abdul's terrorists 'r us makes no fucking difference.

Woah, easy there comrade, Snackbars != Muslims. Snackbars are the Islamic Extremists, 23,000 of which we have on a watch list. We also have a large amount of football hooligans on a watch list, and their ability to do hooliganing is massively curtailed. Ergo, why can we not do the same for Alan's Snackbar enthusiasts?

In fact, I would say if anyone had just equated people of faith with paedos, it was yourself by suggesting all Muslims are Snackbars. Not that Islam is a race anyway. So you can put the dog whistle away now petal.

I think the logic of not locking all the snackbars up is pretty valid.

As I've said time and again - if you can keep tabs on these idiots and they're stupid enough to be watched, and talk to other snackbars it just increases the amount of potential terrorists on a watch list.

If you just banged up/deported all 23,000 of them, you'd end up with a much more severe issue, the snackbars would go underground and the radicalisation in prisons would be a great deal worse than it already is (if that's even possible).

However, I do agree that the Police should be doing more to keep tabs on these people. I genuinely believe that it down to the police cuts - all of the dreaded experts and the Police their selves are saying exactly that.

Prior to these recent attacks, the Police and our intelligence services were doing an amazing job on keeping the streets relatively safe. There were regular raids and regular arrests, however, because they didn't stab anyone or go boom, it doesn't make good news.

23,000 people is a high number to keep track of, if the terrorists are planning an attack and there was sufficient Police like there used to be, the attacks were intercepted way before they came into fruition.

I think the knee-jerk reaction of lock everyone up who has any links to any form of extremist Islam is a dangerous approach for a number of reasons; namely it infringes on peoples rights and can be exploited on a wider scale if implemented, and for the reasons, which are probably more important than the former; it'll just cause further issues of terrorism going more underground and prisons becoming a terrorist factory.

Facepalm for my point about football hooligans having been convicted before being put under restrictions @Bodhi?

So you ARE advocating criminalising a group of people on a flimsy basis! Nice. Good thing there's no similar situations we can point to in history that show how monumentally retarded that is and what sort of thunderous asshats the people who wanted to do that were.

Oh. Wait.

Actually, most pretty much gave up due to not being able to get away with it, thanks to good intel.
Good policing at stadia. The ones who are banned have been to court. That and being a monumental thundercunt at football matches is frowned upon a lot more nowadays.

But Bodhi is advocating putting a load of innocent people on watchlists. That's disgusting. Utterly.

I think that is where the Gherkin now stands. Good chance I'm wrong though!

Yes, an excellent chance! (Sorry, I bit)... the Gherkin is a bit further East... closest to the bomb site is the Heron Tower, diagonally opposite across the junction from where the Baltic exchange stood. The exact site doesn't have any massive towers, just modest buildings by comparison.

Oh. Wait.

No, I facepalmed your post for two reasons. Mainly because I didn't see any sort of retraction of you throwing the R word about when you plainly didn't read, or more likely, understand the post properly. And second, it seems your normal debating technique, so what's good for the goose and all that.

However I'm not sure where I advocated putting all Muslims on watchlists? Have you been too busy welling up with righteous indignation to bother reading again? I was talking about those already on the list, I'm sure it's not beyong a country such as ours to make it really fucking difficult for them to do some terrorising? Even simple stuff, like suggesting if they fuck off to Syria / Libya etc, they don't bother coming back?

I can't believe I'm even having to say this (and it demonstrates why we can't have a grown up conversation about how to fix this problem), but I do not have a problem with Islam - other than the usual caveats about organised religion. But Snackbars I do have a serious problem with - their killing people all over the world right now, which is something I'd quite like to see stopped. Calling people racist just for exploring potential solutions isn't really helpful.

So as I said, put the dog whistle away. Or more preferably, shove it up your arse.

Problem is, when they move from suspect to criminal, it's normally too late.
I can't believe you're actually arguing for this.

I don't need to make the counter arguments. Everyone knows them and knows they're the correct arguments.

But you can't beat dumb, scared and prejudiced I guess...

No. You're prejudiced against muslims who may or may not (the vast majority being not) have any intention of carrying out any sort of violence.

You're in the (historically proven to be moronic) "lock 'em up just in case" camp.

Nice projection, however I haven't actually suggested that, anywhere. Carry on if it makes you feel all virtuous though.
