Shared level access to files you have shared on a LAN

Like the way you can with windows 98...

Well, you can share things but I believe you have to share them at user level. In win9x that's fine, as long as you're 'logged in' (usually done automatically) with a username and password that your win2k machine recognises in its user database.

i take it you want to share files for any user without any passwords?

i achieved this in win2k by sharing the folder as read only for everyone, then full access to the user/group you yourself logsonto the PC with. This should mean anyone can read the folder in Netwok Neighbourhood, make sure the Guest user is setup tho.

hope this helps, i might be talking bollox but it worked for me
