Will you pay 4 it?

Yup.

But I'd not like to be limited in the games I play. If Q4 comes out next week I don't want to have to add that to any predefined lists or pay extra. A flat fee for access would be fine with me. Within limits :)

Eh?

Are BW planning a P2P scheme??

If so where can I find details?

I agree, I wouldn't mind paying but only if it's reasonable and the quality of service doesn't suffer.

To be honest, no. I would if that fee was a necessity for the league, but only then. I only use a couple of BW servers, the Q3 CTF servers and occasionally the RA3 servers. But I'm getting increasingly frustrated at the poor games I have thanks to public server llamas that know nothing about any form of team play, and would then only play with on my clan server in games (which I do 85% of the time anyway)...

No. Because I dont play online games anymore. Until the PlayStation 2 modem gets brought out anyway :D

Would I pay for P2P?

Yes... if the service actually *improved*.

i.e.
new upgraded servers; guaranteed service levels.

especially, in regard to clan servers. They'd have to be quality - and I'd like to know theirs someone available 24/7 at the end of a phoneline to reset it - or solve problems.

I'd like to see them under-cut Jolt clan-server prices.

How much would I be prepared to pay-to-play?
---------------------------------------------------------------

er dunno. With ISDN + isp anything over a tenner - for unlimited access - might be too expensive.

How much would everyone else be prepared to pay?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

yeah reckon i prolly would. So long as the service was improved, maybe the isp incorperated into the p2p as a 24/7 instead of a pay per minute.all depends how much tho of course :)
how much?? well i pay bloody bt £15 a month for a service that returns a ping of 250 with isdn of an evening lately (this cannot go on!!!!) so i gues i'd pay up to ,like £20 for a proper service.

If BW support Operation Flashpoint (when the upgrade is released), if it's reasonably priced AND I get a free trial period then I would.

Definetly, and personally I cannot wait until we have to pay to play. Why?
Having to pay we increase the revence for the company and hopefully lead to better service in term of connections and admins (not that they aint doing a top job - but being paid would make them even better)
Thus, cheats and lamers would be kicked and banned quicker. People who didn't pay would not be allowed on the servers, goodbye to the 13yo l33t and 0wnage possie. And hopefully less people from foreigner clogging up our servers.
I pay 50 quid a month for my DSL, I would cough up another 10-15 a month to get rid of the scum.

I agree with lovedaddy.

Give me decent stable connection, constant roving admins on all servers subscribed to, a guarantee to ban cheaters and I'd sign up.

The ppl who say move to Jolt, u can bet they will follow with a subscription not long afterward.

The sooner gaming in the UK moves to more P-2-P the better :)

I think BW should bring out some kind of deal with ADSL or something, where if you buy there ADSL package you get rights to a private BW servers.

Personally I wouldnt pay for P2P since I pay for the computer, electricity for the computer, hardware, software, maintence, cable tv for use with cable modem subscription, electricty for cable modem and now for a fee to play games with friends (or enemies).

I know this sounds picky but when you consider the above computers are starting to have running costs like a car. We already have traffic to consider now :).

Er, you realise how much that would cost BW to set up?

That's all well and good, but did it not occur to you that Barrysworld need to turn in some revenue occasionally? They are a business, not a charity.

It will all go this way sooner or later. I'm all for it personally, hopefully it will greatly improve the gaming experience for all players, as decent server monitoring and admins will keep the llamas away.

Yes I know
What Im getting at is that I dont want another needless bill to go with that lot. As said b4 other servers are available on the net. I do however happen to enjoy BW's the most.

I'd P2P on BW servers assuming

1) the level of service was proffesional and warranted paying.

2) the gaming experience (haha) I got from paying was greatly superior to other GSP's that do not charge for playing.

3) the fee was what I considered to be reasonable.

4) it including acces to ALL BW servers/services ... ie not the Sky Sports/Sky Premiership+/sky Box Office kind of crap we see from the TV media

5) Rupert Murdoch has nothing to do with it what-so-blady-ever.

Good post - quite right. while some of us might pay anyway, most people would need to see a service much better than any free os charge services to go with it - good ping, plenty of admins, and one payment gives all, not pay per game.

Shouldnt need so many admins as there will be less w4nkers on the servas.

We have admins? Only joking, but if paid, then there would be at least one admin available 24 hrs a day :D

Talking like that, you sure you ain't one of them;)

Seriously though, iv'e resisted skys atempts at getting me to 'pay per view' for many years, personaly because i just can't stand the words, and the fact come out with all the crap about 'choice' when basically it's all about lining there pockets even deeper makes my mind up for me ever time i even get smallest of urges to splash my cash even further on a ppv event.
Guess the long and short of it is for me, if barrys called it 'pay per play' ill just not bother, but a small subscription charge wouldn't bother me, it's no different than signing up for a massively multiplayer game. Which at the end of the end ill probally end up going into anyway, if stuff like starwars galaxies and earth and beyond live up to there billing, and if i were to have to make a choice between barrys and them, which im sure many players will, ill probally end up shooting for the massive multi players.

That's what the majority would do, then Jolt would either a)die or b) start charging too....then you'll move on and the same will happen. The bottom line is that to play online eventually you're going to have to pay, sooner or later it's gonna happen.

Just as a matter of interest, what would you lot consider a 'reasonable' charge for P2P ?
