Will Warhammer Online kill daoc?

Daoc has long time players. Practically no new players, witch means that most players has already played it and loved it for so long that its time to move on. I think more servers will merge (french\german\english) and they will shut down say, a year after WAR is out.

after WH releases, doac will have a bery low population in all servers. same thing happened with wow. and this will be for couple of months. if the game shows to be good. the number of daoc servers wont raise again. but the game wont die at that time. mythic and goa will prolly then cluster more servers or shut them down. ( specialy if the population number is less than 50 ppl). but they will keep running the game but in order to keep maintain and the income high to their standards they will keep making mew expansions ( that means every year. imo). the game will die only the main population of us and europe servers together are less than 5k ppl or more less.

but i think this game wont die. or if it happens not earlier than a year of WH release.

WH will hurt a lot wow. thats true unless if blizzard re contruct pvp and make it fun.

Give it up it's a shite game that does fuck all for you, you can't even sell accs for much anymore the server is virtually dead in my eyes how many prydwen players are really left?

Plus it's not fun it's just an addiction

Fun were the days when Eclipse had first got together and we were fighting in emain making 100k a day vs good guilds like PE MM FL etc now all u get is zerging newb groups mostly cept the odd one like RR. Oh and the game is so balanced

remember there is still potential to cluster french/german/english servers if REALLY needed ... daoc is only really gonna die when theres 1 cluster on EU left with below 1k people on it. Even then people can just move to US

That isn't really true. The game won't be supported/updated if the player base falls below a point where it's enough to financially support the costs of keeping a team up and running. What that point is, I don't know. If it gets down to a few thousand players in europe, then I am guessing that we're fucked.

Your all forgetting EA hold the strings now, a few 1000's players is nothing compared to market they are shooting for for WH.

We are as good as stuffed once WH hits the shops, I'll be buying it just to goto a server with people on it again will be nice, the English populations has dropped right off.

and before people start I remember having to wait to join the Excal server when I first started, I think the limit was 2600 people then, before they changed it to 3000 and with still a wait.

Now if we get 1200 people for cluster its a great day!

now heres an idea....

cluster with french and german.

move classes as follows......english servers to albion, french to hibernia and german to midgard.

give all those that move realm a free equivalent character with same equipment or plat equivalent.

That would make RVR much more interesting.. could reinact agincourt outside dun behn with hundreds of scouts doing /rude.

i for one put my hopes in mythic, altho it might kill daoc (more or less)

war will have most of the elements i like from daoc, hopefully perfected
and i really hope they try new things that might pop up in war - makes the game alot easier for old fashion daocers

Actually they are going to do it to Japanese players so I guess it could be possible here also.

I still have fun with daoc but there isn't much new to discover anymore. Ofc u can make ur 1XX toa'ed ml'ed char but does it really make fun? I mean remember back to your first months playing daoc, u hadn't a clue about anything and althought it was great.

Daoc will be death as soon as there's a new game out with new things to explore and discover and a rvr/pvp system better or equal to the one of daoc.
Well, same developers, so u can expect a improvement even.

If this happens, and I'm looking forward to warhammer gonna become this game, I won't care about daoc dying.


btw, the whole background story of warhammer is like ten times more fascinating, not only because I used to play the real tabletop game in former times

It will problably bring back a lot of old friends that stopped playing for a while which has it own charm
