Any good? keeps coming up in my Amazon recommendations but I wasn't that taken by it when I read the blurb, but I do like China Meiville.

It's an interesting one - I love China (Perdido Street Station is one my all time favs) but I'm still not hooked by this yet and I'm nearly a quarter through.

Saying that, it delivers the same depth of character and world (even Universe) that I expect from him and the language is nothing short of spectacular; My dictionary is taking a good thumbing :)

It's getting better but I'll let you know how good it really is when I've finished it.

On a side note - just read his first novel a couple of weeks ago - King Rat - and really enjoyed it. Nowhere near his current standard though.

Yes they are, and they get better and better with each book in my opinion. Definitely the most interesting fantasy author from this 'generation'.

I've finally begun reading American Gods, I've had it for ages but always had some other series I wanted to finish first. So far, I feel a bit dumb waiting this long because it's actually good, I love the basic concept and if he pulls it off... yeah.

I read that so long ago, think it needs a re-read. Struggling with Cryptonomicon.

I am reading some self published sci-fi books on the Kindle atm, not bad considering each book costs £1.99.
