I agree tbh. Forums were where the leet attitude started and people bitched about adding, stealing and zerging. As a result the game has changed from a caring and polite community to something that no one can save.

When I started playing DAOC, the forum was named Barrysworld, which is the same forum as this one actually, but the mentality / attitude has changed for sure... and I think the start of it was when they introduced realm abilities and was increased by Sidi and TOA...

So I dont blame the forum for the current mentality, but the 'need to be best' factor added by RAs/Sidi/TOA

what ruined daoc for me was the guild grp's as you have to be over a certain lvl to join them or you have to be a cetain ML/RR to join.... also what is up with the BB at CS FoP'ing they dont need FoP there TBH as it just laggs out if ur on a shitty pc :puke:

also the fact that the different realms moan bout alb's being OverPower'ed when
whorelocks - with there chamber's
BD's - bind all to keyboard and repeat'ly smash they head against keyboard
Vamps - when 1 admitted to me that he solo'ed a lvl50 when he was 38
Banishee's - with the crappy cry's
are OP themself's

so ALL-IN-ALL everything ruin'ed the game for me

The fact that polls head straight back up to the top of the post list everytime someone votes, meaning the top 20 posts are all polls with zero new content added to them is what ruined DAoC! Which is why it's so f**king annoying when people create completely meaningless ones every 30 seconds!!

For crafters the advent of housing was what ruined it, before while the crafting is probably one of the most boring things you can do, you could at least chat to other people while doing it. Why mythic thought that making it so everyone would go craft alone would "enhance gameplay" is beyond me.

TOA.. Ok so I actually liked some of the extra PvE content at the start. DAoC had before this really lacked anything for the PvE'ers to do, and so in that way it was a nice addition. What it did add tho was something that really wasn't needed, rare items of which there wasn't nearly enough for everyone.
Before TOA you ran about with your group or solo, and exped anywhere you wanted to get to 50. Then you wandered off and got some crafted gear and went off to RvR. People in the game therefore got on with each other, you wern't constantly tripping over each others feet. Then TOA was released and suddenly that other group, as opposed to being someone able to rezz you if you died and people to chat to while exping, became the people that would pull the arti mob if you didn't get there first. The server divided itself into small groups of competing factions and most of the realm spirit was instantly lost.

ML's might have been ok if done propely, but 90% of them just involve building a zerg and charging at something. The dragon is a reasonably good example of an epic mob, you bring lots of afk people and he will punish you for it, people need to be awake or you'll struggle. TOA mobs you can /stick 100 afk people on your ass and you'll barely notice. Getting ML's (despite all the whining from lazy cluesless idiots) really is a piece of piss, and only really a problem if you live in australia. All the people whining about not being able to play 24/7 and so being unable to get ML's should just wake up. Most ML raids can be completed in just over an hour, it can take 20 mins to get to lyonesse to go exp, but you never heard them complaining about that did you? It's no longer a fun challenge, it's 10 hours /stuck to someone whining about how crap the raid leader today is. Then once you have all your arti's and ML's the game just becomes more silly. Casters can now kill you before you have time to /face and target them in todays lag. In the days pre-toa in old frontiers, you actually got to see your enemy and fight, now you get to see a spell animation and release. TOA didn't increase the difference between PUG's and GG's because one had TOA and the other didn't. It's that the GG used the TOA stuff way more effectively, timing 2 banelords interupts for example. The more stuff people have, the bigger the gap between those using it effectively and those who arn't. Say goodbye casual gamer.

RVR groups died with NF. In old frontiers the 15 minute wait to port was annoying sure, but it did one very important thing. It made you stop and think before running off solo into a full group. You had 15 mins sitting there to build your group, it was actually worth spending that time trying to invite people and make a good balanced group that could have some fun. Now you can just port out, run 5 feet and try and nuke something, why bother. If it goes wrong, you'll be rebuffed, res sickness cured and back out in the same spot within 60 seconds, no loss to you.

Mythic tried to do the right thing, I honestly believe they did. They worked out where the issues where, then tried to introduce content to make that better. Of course in almost every scenario they completely messed it up and made the situation worse.

TOA was supposed to improve the PvE content in the game. In stead of providing fun PvE that the people who enjoyed PvE could enjoy however, they created an environment of whining RvRers that the PvE guys had to step round in order to kill a mob.

NF was supposed to improve rvr for the casual players, instead it shafted any chance they had of getting a group ever. Sure they can port to the zerg solo, but i'm not sure that soloing in a 80 person zerg of soloers is really what they were after is it?

Catacombs was supposed to make leveling easier, and created a way that the PL'ers could PL nice and fast without meeting anyone, and any exp groups that were about were completely impossible to find for anyone looking, no more running to camp X and seeing anyone was there exping you could join.

Congratulations Mythic, job done!

For the people who are no doubt going to yell well why play then? I have friends here and am quite able to go out and have fun with them. It's just a shame that many of the new ones I might have been able to make, I probably won't due to the changes implemented.

Start over

Think they beter reinvent DAOC make DAOC II and get ride of this one. So erveryone can start over in an new game. The game is the best around only its got to spread out. They can keep the good idea's and ad some new on fewer zone's.

Well thats what i think about it, just an idea.
