So destroying the only land bridge between Russia and Crimea isn't a good strategic move during a time of war? I think I need a new dictionary because obviously mine is telling lies.
This video explains pretty well (imo) why they couldn't attack it previously and why they might not have wanted to at that point...

The explosion could have been caused by charges placed on the bridge overnight. I doubt the Russians have anyone or anything competent watching it, we can see how heavily they've oversold their military might.

Looking more and more likely the Ukraine will recapture Crimea now. Imagine the utter humiliation of a war ending like that...

Putin starts a '3 day' operation to take the Ukraine

6+ Months later the Ukraine not only recapture what was stolen during the 3 day operation but Crimea on top of that as well

Well it only took down one carriage way leaving the opposite side up but it has a light vehicles restriction.

On other Elon Musk thoughts:

I think the bloke just doesn't want nuclear war to interrupt his empire building.

As for the bridge. Yeah, one side is open...and currently being flooded by people fleeing.

Wonder if the Russian army will bar people from leaving, so they can still get stuff over.

Slightly hard for her
Oh come on. She has to say that.

I would be flabberghasted if Putin left with his tail between his legs. As would you.

The analysts have been saying this from the start - the end of this is either going to be horrific or uncomfortable and distasteful all round.

But yeah, I would too ;)

The analysts were saying Ukraine would fall within 1 week. Yet here we are.

I dunno, I think it was pretty obvious that it wasn't going to be an ez war for Russia - Ukraine have been fighting for 8 years, they're experienced.

I didn't know anything about Ukraine or the state of its military. So when it happened, the sense of dread was acute.

That wasn't the narrative in March. It was only after the invasion that we gradually became aware Ukraine had been getting substantial retraining and equipment from the West before the War had even started.

I dunno, if you look at Kyiv and the surrounding area it's basically covered by a massive forest on the western side with a river, so the Russians advancing that far probably made sense.

All speculation though, I'm sure there will be a Netflix documentary about it in a few years. If Netflix is still about.

You've got to love the constant stream of Russian hypocrisy:

lol - Russia just blew up apartment buildings for no military reason whatsoever, just as it has throughout the war.

I wish Putin would get cancer of the cock.

Maybe they would have more luck on the battlefield if, rather than flats and playgrounds, they hit military targets.

Oh come on. This shit always happens during war. Or do we not kill civilians and innocent bystanders every time we send our troops in?

Or, of course, we can be all "think of the children!!!11" about Russia specifically.

We're so ridiculously tribal. War, any war, is horrific, m'kay?

Bollocks. Deliberate mass-killing of civilians is not how the west wages war, nor Ukraine. Even in Iraq where you can find a few bad examples the west didn’t just flatten cities for fun or use rape as a terror tool. It’s not comparable.

nor Ukraine
They're no different from the Russians. Even their PM wears army camo to appeal to his voters in the hard-man fashion they desire. As is to be expected from a country that was USSR until 1991.

I've no doubt that subsequent to the breakup of the USSR either a majority or significant minority of "ukranians" in the donbas region and thereabouts wanted to be russian. The poor deluded idiots. And putin's taken advantage of that.

But one thing is true. As long as we have powerful nations war is inevitable...

Yet you know if they launched a missile a Moscow a proper war would kick in.

Interesting how RU are having to go to other countries for weapons as they're running out.

The BBC clip this morning was.. Haunting. The sound from the missile is something I never want to hear.
