Agree, but even if the proportions are misrepresented the result wasn't a fix. They were always gonna vote anti-EU no matter the state of the elections. It's clearly a majority want.

ofc the result was a fix, the whole thing was rushed through with the usual threats of violence and intimidation. I wouldn't have a problem if it was an open and fair ballot but you don't plan a countries future on a rushed pole at the end of an AK47

Erm - there wasn't even an option to vote to keep the borders as they are. Therefore the other side stayed at home.

There was no debate, due to the haste of it all. There is a Russian army in situ. The media had been subverted to propaganda. The numbers are clearly fake. What about this doesn't scream fix?

Not only is it a fix, its specifically Putin saying "fuck you western liberal douchebags, what are you going to do about it?". The Russians know exactly what the west will think of that vote, and they did it to show the amount of fucks they give about our opinion.

Although Russia would lose considerable amounts of money if it tries to limit gas exports it doesn't mean they wont, as Raven stated a reduction in supply from Russia would result in those countries having to find supplies from elsewhere which ultimately would affect us.

Crimea really isn't that important to the West hence the rhetoric and weak sanctions, it is what comes next if any thing that'll be the real issue.

THe Ukraine isn't a nuclear power anymore. They gave up their nuclear arms under an agreement signed by Russia USA and UK to protect their boarders. I forget the name of the agreement atm, but i'm sure its linked above somewhere.

This looks increasingly likely to occur in a rapid assent into NATO, Ukraine has already been cross training with NATO troops, and are/were on the path to joining.
Followed by a fast track assent into the EU Trade Area (which was the original deal that Yankovich ditched)
