I have not spent the last 22 years paying high taxes and NI just to sit back and watch some fucking scum run riot which in turn pushes up MY cost of living.
well, in fact what youre doing right now is sitting back and letting them do it, what you did yesterday, and the day before that. i HIGHLY doubt that many here has volunteered in any centres to help families that cannot control their kids.

example:

How many here do have foster kids?

I like that you all think you can just live in society, pay abit of tax and then your part is done.

Throwing kids into cells teach em fuck all respect, it teaches them anger, resentment and hatred.

I dont have any long term nor short term solutions that will solve it, but i damn well know what wont. One thing i know is role models do wonders.

Actually if the government gave me imunity I would be out there right now beating the shit out of the cunts rioting. I have no issue with beating an 11 yr old or a 20 yrd old if it means they learn respect for stuff.

So your answer is to beat the shit out of them? Good work mate. What's your solution for keeping the house warm? A bonfire in the kitchen?

He's exactly right. Most of you here have a pretty misinformed view of prison. The background a lot of these kids come from lead them to assume they are going to end up in prison or / and on drugs at some point.

Prison is NOT easy, I'm sorry but it isn't. It is a dehumanising process and I is incredibly unpleasant. The amount of attempted suicides in prison is incredibly disturbing. BUT, prison isn't a deterrent and it isn't a badge of honour either. It is all to often a place that breeds anger and resentment and hatred for society at large as Huntington said. It has been pointed out that these kids believe the world owes them something, and yes a lot of them do. Is that there fault? No, it is endemic fault in that sector of society, it was the way they were raised and or their peers were raised. Don't ever underestimate peer pressure with children and young adults.

Deebs, you mentioned that many of you used to go put and find something to do that didn't involve breaking the law and that is the environment you grew up in. I grew up in an area which was a police no go area for ten years, and I assure you, common sense or decency are not values which apply to teenagers in that kind of social setting.

The idea that all kids these days are a waste of space - posted by Raven I think, is just nonsense. We are talking about a very small minority indeed. The vast majority of kids are no different than those generations before them.

Some of you will read this and think I am making excuses, I am not, I am simply pointing out some of the contributing factors here. The rioting and looting and violence are unacceptable. We do have to accept though that as a society we have let these kids down - if we don't things will never change.

I understand the anger in this thread, but common sense is needed. We have a legal system to rehabilitate - that is it's primary function and prison isn't always the wisest or most cost effective means of doing so. as run or said, community service makes sense - it makes financial sense and pays society back in kind, but it also provides something constructive for these kids to focus on.

I'm sure this thread will be torn apart, most of my posts usually are. I can only speak from experience. I grew up in a similar climate to these kids and I work in the prison environment several days every month.

Anyway, that is my opinion.

They need to want to be helped though. I saw one called "Loc" or something on the news earlier saying they didn't want to be drug dealers etc and they don't have a choice but from my experiences when I was living\working in Wolves\Brum they were quite content with it all.

Marc, im really not suprised to see you post that, you are after all what qualifies as a lowest common denominator human being, so no suprises there.

i want to see them come and burn YOUR house down, then watch you stand there and say "oh noes dont hit him"

im glad he got a slap, and i hope more people get the same. the sooner this is over the better

So i qualify as a lowest common denominator human being because I want these people punished through the justice system, rather than beatings handed out willy nilly by the police? Ha, that makes sense. Sure, if a baying mob attacks the police, they have the same rights as you and me to protect ourselves. That video shows nothing of the sort. If those kids on the video HAD done something wrong, what deterrent was that "punishment" handed out? Those 2 kids who got beat up by the police wont be deterred in the slightest. They will laugh it off and if anything, will give them more incentive to cause trouble. If they were guilty why werent they arrested and taken off the streets meaning they werent able to cause more trouble?

Anyway, carry on with the insults to get your point across duder

No, I purchase gas with my hard earned money to power the central heating I have in the house I live in. That keeps me warm, keeps others in a job and isn't breaking the law.

Bit of an overkill and exactly what i was talking about. Why was the need to tackle there? Anger perhaps? The people around(three as far as i see) could have as easily stopped the kid without risking severe head trauma.

"Do excuse me dear chap, but I say, would you very much mind ceaseing your abominable actions?"

I think that's justified but I'd like him to use proper technique next time to avoid self injury and maybe a few kicks. His head should of been close to his thigh / waist area and his knees close to the floor with his back straight. That way he coulda lifted him and maybe broke something, like a collarbone?

:p
