Problem with this is there will always be a few who will get a group and steamroll everyone :(

And this is why you got to be a member to find out... if people start to steam roll you then just point it out on the forum. If they are members then they will be removed...

if they are not then it be harder to control, but one of the ways would be to keep an eye on what guilds are coming and rolling you. If it is the same guild and they are not members personally you may have to look at what member of the guild is part the forum as it most likely them that mention where the zone is for the rvr. Have to be careful with this one though as dont want to take out someone that is being fair, and so I guess alot of it relies on others.

For instance, if someone in an alliance starts broadcasting on /as which zone it is in, and others from that alliance come and ruin it then someone else in that alliance needs to ask them to stop and if they dont then just let Gahn know who is broadcasting it.

Clear ain't it? ^^

Ok, just checking. In my book there is a big difference between soloing and dueling (dueling is about fair fights above all, whereas soloing is a playstyle where players still belong to a realm).

Friday news: "...It is also out of the question to establish a zone restricted to solo characters or group versus group confrontations by blaming those who preferred to come with 40 allies and played their own way...."

The way I understand it they are not saying the "solo zone" itself is out of the question, but name and shame is a no-no.

what they mean is that they wont give us a zone that is only accessable by solo people or single groups, an instance or something (which would be shit anyway, hi WoW) this is fine as the people who only play to spoil other peoples fun can still zerg the place up (assuming they know where it is)

QQ... why? :(

Coz most visibles had enough of _retarded_ casterdamage when solo (eg. no resist-buffs) and the total-Iwin of most casters (suppose RM is something else but hey).

Also, caster-fights are shit. You bow. Zebolt bows to you. You prepare to sprint, Zebolts hits you for 690, Zebolts hits you for 690, Zebolts hits you for 813. Zebolt bows to you.

yeah, casters should be removed from this game :)

even after 3.5 years of playing daoc i still cant understand why casters can cast 2-3-4 times under 2 second.

it's not so much "No druids" but "we won't tell you where we are if you bring your druid or spiritmaster or enchanter or sorcerer or ubersmitor and win too much"

:)

Its because someone told a fg (purple warriors?) where the solo zone was and they went there to ruin the soloer's fun. As a result the soloer's became abusive and Xalin spawned purple mobs to wipe the zone :p

In other words the few vocal idiots who were abusive to people got the zone filled with mobs :p

I think its fine if people who want solo fights pick a quiet zone away from zerg areas so they know what general area they will be able to find people in to fight.

I can also see why you want to keep the knowledge of which zone it is on any particular day restricted to people you feel won't abuse it by taking a group to farm you.

This does mean though that groups randomly roaming, or going to do a tower take which is their group task, may wander through the area you pick. Thats going to be impossible to avoid unless they keep off the frontier entirely. They won't know what area you chose, and if they are given a tower task they don't even get to choose where they go. They may not even read this forum or know you are doing this.

So please, don't abuse a group for just roaming through the area by chance. It can spoil the day for people who just want to have fun, and could get the GMs putting their foot down.

I should add I haven't had any problems. I just want everyone to have fun.

Its more those groups that keeps comming to the set locations to kill soloers. Then there will be investigation on who is leaking information.

I quite understand that, and that tempers could get frayed. <grins> I just don't want clueless people who are strolling through making daisy chains to get caught in the crossfire.

I dont expect my word to be worth much, especially on this subject-but if I knew that a certain zone would be 'tonights designated solozone' then i would do everything I could to not go there with a grp. Personally i dont like to gank soloers with grps, i like this idea and im curious to see how it affects the game in the longer term. If wed run a group into the area by chance then just pm us and take it from there. Rudeness is not a good way to go get anything done. Have fun out there and good luck with what you are doing ;)
