Well, after 120 odd posts about how to find a fight without getting zerged and cause I got some time off work now, and since it's well known that opinions are like assholes and everyone's got one, here's mine:

Most self-defined "soloers" have absolutely no idea what solo is. Soloing is not only about finding a fight, it's about knowing where to go, what to do, how to avoid others and how to meet them.

Soloing involves getting the beating accepting it and moving on. Soloing involves thinking, which many people are incapable to conceive. But most of all, soloing means playing SOLO (hence the minesweeper reference above).

Not that someone is unable to solo in daoc, this can happen too. However the idea of creating something like this, takes away more than half of the pleasure of soloing.

So, in short. Solo is getting run down by stealth zergs and fgs... because as a solo visable class with no speed that is what happens most the time. Doesnt matter where you go it will happen.

Can go to zones where there very little traffic and get 1 fight an hour sure. But that is dull... you can go to enemies poc area but once again that is dull as most time it just people on way to xp or lame xp killing gimps that dont give decent fight... or you can run about docks + agramon bridges and get zerged... not much of a choice.

This increases the amount of fights you get, the point of Solo is to test yourself against others 1vs1. An arranged zone allows you to maximise the chances of a fight whilst keeping people awake because you dont have to stop and emote you want a fight, you see someone that not engaged in a fight and with most if not all (im more for the all) health and you try get the jump on them.

In short, solo is a choice, what you describe here is just a result that derives out of that choice. Learn to live with it and move on.

Again, soloing is a choice. What you want to create here is to get the benefits without having to pay the price for that choice. I'm not refering to you, but this is a typical adolescent behaviour.

What you're looking for is an easy ride. I'm just saying I'm against it and pointing out some arguments.

Tell me then, why all the complaints about zergs? The fg crowd make a choice that they want fg fights. That dont stop them moaning about being zerged... and all we done is what that crowd has done... they selected agramon to be their FG vs FG zone and to be honest they mainly left to it there but I have not seen you condoning them for doing that.


All we doing is maximising our enjoyment out of a game we play. Why have 5minutes enjoyment an hour when you can make it 45minutes an hour enjoyment? I only have a couple hours an evening at most playing at the moment. So when i do log on I want to be able to actualy have fun and not be zerged constantly and get pissed off.

And grouping isnt a choice for me... prime time i lag too much due to a dodgy local exchange. I have a place in a GG but I cant actually take it till this is fixed. So im forced to solo (or zerg which sucks) because if i ld im not ruining it for others.

He's also entitled to have his opinion.

still I think nowadays even with disease you should be able to kill a shammy. After all you can also carry multiple disease weapons, cast CL disease etc. which has about the same effect.

Then again, your forum, your thing, so maybe once I get my missing 3 items on ranger I'll join up, but tbh, druid is much more fun

I'm willing to set up a private section on our Guild Site for us all to have a daily chat to fix a zone to meet and fight.
Only real toon names will be allowed as nick (to check the respect of rules we gonna agree upon).

DAOC will never have instanced rvr unless they make it so that you don`t gain any RP.. otherwise it would just screw the ballance totally between normal players and people who give eachother 100k a day.

only time recently i remember adding on a fight of you was when a BD was taking you appart (or so i though, could have been wrong), i added, the BD switched target, killed me, you killed the BD, you got killed 5 secs after by a fg. still kinda left me satisfied that you won the fight vs the BD even if it left me face down without getting any RP.

Sounds like a good idea to designate a zone though, only problem comes when deciding who has access to the place where the zone is set each day, chances are someone will either join up for the sole purpose of feeding the information to zergers, or someone who starts off joining up to get some solo action, but instead gets killed in 1 on 1's too much that they get pissed off and feed the information out of spite.

Good luck with it though, I reckon I'll stick to getting farmed for now untill I manage to improve a little more.
