But it can have a different chemical make up than original diesel does. Petrol is hydrocarbon and has different make up.
Yes. So it comes back to my original point about your woeful lack of understanding of orfanic chemistry.

Basically - you don't know enough to be able to discuss this sensibly - and short of taking a course in chemistry there's no point in going any further with this.

You *cannot* reconfigure long chain hydrocarbons to burn cleanly.

Clean [/er]? Marginally. But far from clean.

Period.

The chemical process involves reaction of natural oils with an alcohol, and then refining the mixture to create molecules which can be easily burned in a diesel engine. Biodiesel fuel can be used in any diesel engine in pure form or blended with petroleum diesel at any level. Even a blend of 20% bio- and 80% petroleum diesel will significantly reduce carcinogenic emissions and gases that may contribute to global warming. Glycerin is the byproduct of the biodiesel production process, and can be used in personal care products or a variety of chemical applications.

So bio diesel can reduce the emissions and gasses of petroleum diesel.

So the new synthetic diesel could do that also.

Anyone else worried @Scouse is going to call them out on their lack of chemistry understanding? I don't have a bloody clue what these two are on about.

Biodiesel is also an oxygenated fuel, meaning it contains a reduced amount of carbon and higher hydrogen and oxygen content than fossil diesel. This improves the combustion of biodiesel and reduces the particulate emissions from unburnt carbon.

Are we just copy pasting from wiki here?
Yes and the point being im looking up sources that support my arguement. Wiki there being one. So the make up of the fuel is different and therefore not as harmful.

Is there something wrong with pasting from wiki? Not as if i hid the embedded links or anything.

Yep. And getting it all wrong because he doesn't understand the basics well enough to discuss the subject meaningfully.

Reminds me of when Richard Feynman told the journalist that he lacked the education to understand the question he was asking - never mind comprehend the answer - and that it'd take years of training for the journo to get to the level required:

@Moriath - your cut paste effort above isn't meaningful discussion. Sorry - learn chemistry if you want to alleviate your n00bness...

Nothing wrong though it's nice to state the source and include it's context, but yes you will need years of training to debate with Scouse at his level, though I'm not sure if that's an upward or downward journey.

I am actually seriously wondering if @Scouse is developing some sort of mental health issue, some of the frantic arguing is getting to some worrying levels... Way over the top for a gaming forum.

If we can't discuss things without a degree in the subject (In this case chemistry) then why bother at all?

You know you can get your point across without childish insults.

I gave up chemistry over twenty years ago. But i can read and what i have read is that things called diesel can be made differently to each other. Reducing emissions. So the new way of making it might be the same or different to an existing fuel called diesel. But still be usable in a diesel engine.

I dont need to know that i dont have a chemistry degree. I dont need to be patronised. I need to know where the arguement that the new diesel manufactured is a bad thing. And however much you ponce around calling everyone else ingnorant. You havent proven your point to us yet.

If you dont want to just say so and dont put you view point in the post to begin with.

I cant prove the obvious to someone who cant comprehend the answer. An ability to read ain't enough. Watch the feynman video.

@Raven - all I'm doing is continuing to engage - rather than what most people do - which is not bother. I've said it before - FH is a discussion forum. If this argument was being conducted in the office I would remain silent...

I'm picturing him at work mumbling 'oh fucking really' at the screen then attacking the keyboard like Gordon Ramsay slicing a coconut.

How do you know i cant comprehend the answer. Which is your answer. Most science is open to interpretation and different studies show different results etc etc.

Your just so pretentious recently its unbelievable.

Because A) you haven't comprehended the feynman video and how it applies to this situation, and; B) if you knew enough about chemistry you wouldn't have to ask the question in the first place and would have comprehended the answers given - rather than desperately punching in the wiki "helpline"...

It's not pretention or condescention - it's pointing out the feynman argument and you getting all butthurt because you don't like it.

I get the feynman thing. Except he actually explains things and you dont. You just say its too complex for you go away. I understand magnetics to a certain level. And did physics to gcse as well as chemistry.

The reason i get butt hurt as you put it is when you say things like you have to put down and be condesending.

Like
And if you think my tone is condescending - it's because I'm looking down on your monumental retardedness regarding this - and I'm having to use a telescope because my ivory tower is so high...

Just cannot agree with this, mainly because a friend of mine married a girl with a severe genetic problem and they were told it was 100% odds of passing it on, now he has two blind kids, the lad walks like he's drunk and the girl is now in a special school.
The bit that really fuks me off is the 'we don't care if she has the disability or not'.
