Original Pirate Material was O.K, had some great tunes on it (Weak Become Heroes, It's Too Late, Don't Mug Yourself), but the rest was too bitty, too fragmented. A lot of the tunes were great ideas poorly developed, as a result they just sounded like a bassline Mike had come up with but couldn't figure out how to put to music. A Grand Don't Come For Free is a far more polished affair and far more enjoyable to listen to from start to finish, which is what I personally look for in an album.
