Whats the pvp like?

Pretty awful, mostly due to the terrible combat mechanics it feels old and i mean really old, oh and it looks like a disco lots of flashy lights going off everywhere basically pvp was an after thought in my opinion it's barebones.

Heart of the game is the story, dungeons and investigation missions

Pvp is shit, but it's like in most mmo's these days

I honestly giggle at the people who paid a lifetime sub for this game.

It has by far the best story and setting for an mmo, the quests are also great, its the combat ect that holds it back

Except that story is also spoiled by the terrible dialogue and acting.

The dialogue and acting didnt seem any worse than any other mmo to me, especially SWTOR that many rave about

Yeah it's simply not worth it, that sum of money is alot to fork out in advance

You have unreal expectations to voice acting in games then, to me it is simply stellar. Especially some characters you meet later in kingsmouth and savage coast.

I thought that was the one thing SWTOR got right, TSW is just awful on these features i cringed at some of the dialogue on my beta weekends.

Massively's guide:

The Secret World community guide

Today marks the beginning of the end of the world -- you know, if you believed in that conspiracy theory stuff. And if you so happened to buy into all that, then you probably are pinning your hopes on a few stalwart souls to wedge themselves between you and the forces of the apocalypse.

Those brave people are beginning to wage war in The Secret World as of today (if they have early access and a copy of the necronomicon, of course). As per tradition here at Massively, we want to give everyone a fighting chance by putting as much information at your fingertips as possible. So presented for your approval is our community guide to TSW.

Because information is power -- now more than ever.

1-1340907306.jpg

The Secret World official site -- If you're looking for the latest news, where to purchase the game, or screenshots and videos, it doesn't get any more official than this!

The Secret World forums -- Chat with your fellow players and debate what's overpowered, what's been nerfed, and why this game is one giant conspiracy.

The Secret World community site -- Keep tabs on what bloggers, Tweeters, and podcasters are saying about this game!

The Secret World store -- If you're looking to buy directly from Funcom, this is the place. Be sure to read the fine print.

Funcom news -- Funcom keeps all of its official press statements and releases here for those who want to get the official word.

Funcom YouTube channel -- Stay up to date with all the latest Funcom videos, including those from The Secret World.

GeForce PC readiness check -- Run a quick diagnostic on GeForce's site to see whether your computer can handle TSW's requirements.

The Secret War podcast -- The folks at MMO Reporter put out an entertaining if sporadic show.

CGN: The Secret World -- A very slick site devoted to news and guides about the secret war.

Uncovered podcast -- A podcast hosted by the crew at CGN.

The Secret World Blog -- This hasn't been updated since mid-May, but it's got a nice backlog of posts and guides to go through.

The Kingsmouth Current -- A virtual newspaper set in TSW's universe. Quite entertaining!

Doc Holiday's MMO Saloon -- A general MMO blogger who's very taken with this title.

The Hydra Initiative -- A fansite and podcast rolled into one. A great one-stop-shopping source for information about TSW.

TSWSociety.com -- A snazzy blog with a background that may well hypnotize you if you look at it for too long.

The Secret World Guides -- Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time, so don't feel ashamed about mining this site for that assistance.

4-1340908987.jpg

The Secret World Wiki -- Need a clue for an investigation mission? Looking for details on a particular skill? Want to bone up on lore? This is where you go.

The Secret World on Wikipedia -- Just in case you're doing a lazy research paper on this game for class.

2-1340907542.jpg

The Secret World Facebook page -- Do you like The Secret World? Then why not show the world you support it on the most popular social networking site?

The Secret World on Twitter -- Breaking news and promotions always come out on Twitter before anything else, so it's good to keep tabs on TSW's.

Yea the acting in SWTOR was fucking terrible, it was like listening to a bunch of retards trying to fuck a door knob :p which was quite funny tbh considering the whole niche for the game was voices on all npcs pretty much.

Considering trying The Secret World, despite hearing bad things about it and any other game I'll always try them first, is there PvE servers? if the PvP is wank I really don't want to waste any time doing it.

There are no PvP servers, you can't do PvP in the normal zones

The PvP is wank. :p

If you wanted to try it out there has been 4 beta weekends earlier, shame to waste 50/60€ on something you don't like

Played alot this weekend, immensly fun. Also played the "Darkness War" and "Ankh" missions. Gotta love raid mechanic bosses and almost no trash mobs

I'll add you to my friendslist when I get on after work. Feel free to ask me any questions. I've also completed like 95% of missions up to egypt if you get stuck

Sure I'm doing something wrong, just done the quest "Into the darkness" it was flagged Normal so I thought aye should be easy enough... got to the garage and got RAPED by the agent when going back up, I die so fast and the healing and absorb barriers I have at present just doesn't keep up with the damage

Currently specced

Full Blood Magic
Bit into blades to pick up the first lot of abilities/aoe

Skill wise I have

Blade skill 1
Blood skill 5
Talisman's all skill 2 (which seems to be appropriate for where am at present)

Sure I'm doing something wrong :p

Get some better gear. I guess you have QL0-2 greens? Go do some Polaris runs. The heal rating pieces add to your heals and attack rating boosts damage. Try see if you can get 1-2 tank pieces just to pad your hp buffer
