Is he even good enough to command 200k + taxes? Around £350k a week. It's not like he can draw in the sponsorship as well.

Come to think of it...is anyone?

Makes me laugh all these comments on whether Fergie was a great manager or not. He won trophies and titles. As such he will go down as one of the greats. In football that is the only benchmark to measure success. You don't take into account what money they had to spend vs other clubs. In Man Utd's case quite a few of their best players were not the expensive ones, Ronaldo being one of the exceptions.

Same way people don't take into account the cars when discussing F1 drivers, history records the winners/titles.

I don't think residency matters; income tax is usually purely a result of the number of days you spend in a country, regardless of address.

Isn't there a town on the Belgian side of the border that's becoming a haven for French millionaires?

Not for some countries - ask any Australian or Canadian about their draconian tax laws. UK the rule was 1/6th of a tax year. In the country any longer than that (65 days) and you were liable for UK income tax. May have changed, last UK tax return I filed was in 2005 :)

Its half the year now. 183 days to be specific. I think that's an EU rule, because its the same number for Ireland and I've just checked and its the same for France.

Interesting, just hope the UK does not adopt the tax on expatriates any time soon. They have talked about it. Will have to sell my house in the UK and move any funds offshore if that ever happens. As the only way around it is to sever all ties :(

yep, he didn't spend as much as a lot of other premiership clubs and won a fuck ton more than them.

So, who's Moyes going to buy then? Rooney will be gone, along with Nani and Anderson. Moyes does like playing with a lot of width, so I could definitely see a shakeup there. Bale would fit right into a Moyles style team...

Could you not sell it to a non-UK registered company or something like that?

I really think Rooney will just end up signing a contract extension. Didn't his agent do something similar a couple of years ago?

Wouldn't that be something! I am hoping he brings Baines with him. After that hopefully a solid engine workhorse in midfield. Rooney can go to fuck. His throwing his toys out of the pram is getting real old.

Yes, but that's the problem. You can only play those games so often, and when he did it last, United had just lost Ronaldo and Tevez, so he was in a position of strength; he's not now. If anything, the way he's been played this season shows his position is weakening all the time (and also shows replacing him with a Modric or similar actually makes more sense).

Considering he lost a libel case brought by Moyes, who Rooney alleged was overbearing and controlling (and Fergie isn't?), I doubt he'll be hanging around.

Seems like there might be a lot of work for Moyes over the next couple of seasons. Anderson and Nani looked set to leave although could change under new management, Scholes will probably also be off. Their current core of Rio - Carrick - RVP are all fairly old and they'll need to consider thinking of replacing them. Giggs and Evra can't carry on forever, and then there's Rooney.

Well a good start would be to flog Rooney to PSG for 40m and use that to buy Baines and Fallaini. I'm sure they'll add another forward as well (although I very much doubt it will be Ronaldo). The Rio/Vidic replacement cycle is already underway, and Carrick is only getting better (and he's not a pace player, so he probably has a good few years in him). Its actually the wide players where there are issues; Young had a good start but has fallen away, and Valencia has had a shit season by his standards (although he's got a bit better towards the end of the season).

Grateful to Moyes for all the work he's put in over the years, he has changed our team into a solid top 10 team who is trying to always push into Europe, as well as finishing above Liverpool a few times, that's always a bonus.

I am concerned though some of our team will be following suit though, Baines and Fellaini for sure. I just hope we don't sell them on cheaply and i hope we can replace with quality rather than quantity to keep up the pace as to not undo the past decade.

It was time for Moyes to perhaps move on, but the replacement options don't half concern me. I don't think i'd fancy Martinez or O'Neill, maybe the two managers i wouldn't mind would be OGS or Laudrup. Mourinho did say he was coming back to where he loved though... I didn't half love him when he was over here so....

Di Matteo to Everton!

It'll surely be Martinez.

I've really never been able to work out what people see in Martinez. Yes he's got Wigan playing attractive football and inspires them at the back of the season blah blah, but he seems to struggle with the concept of defence. Maybe the "d" pages are missing from his Spanish-English phrasebook?
