Every logical bone in my body is telling me its Moyes (I've kind of assumed it would be him since...forever), because United are only successful with stable management, but there's the Glazer factor; Mourinho puts bums on seats nearly as much as marquee players do, and the glaring hole in United's collective CV is the CL, where Moyes has next to no experience and Mourinho has loads. I think Mou would be totally wrong for United (if it has to be a furriner I prefer Jurgen Klopp), but its funny how the Chelsea talk has slowed down...

Moyes. Can't be anyone else really can it?

There is that. And he'd bring Ronaldo back with him...

There's actually a rumour in the US press that GM will bankroll part of Ronaldo's wages to get him back to OT (Chevrolet's full sponsorship kicks in next year and GM, despite paying a ridiculous amount of money, reckon its getting payback in China before its even properly started).

Baines for sure. Fergie has always wanted him at united so if Moyes go I'd bet heavily that baines will follow.

Why? Evra is still playing, and Buttner will be filling in their for the future. Utined won't sign Jagielka they don't need him, the Defence is set for a couple of years, with Rafael, Evans, Smalling, Jones, Buttner.

Buttner :D

Has no future at Man U.

I disagree, the lad has shown a fair bit of composure for his first season. Granted most of his higlight reel would be him going forward, but that's the thing with full backs nowadays, they develop the attacking element of their game before eventually settling in to the defensive duties.

I think Fergie's leaving because he won't have the mahoosive bucks to spend under FFP once you take into account financing the debt ;)

He is not good enough. He won't be good enough. You may disagree, but you're wrong. He'll be gone this summer or next.

He always said he'd retire when his health deteriorates so the hip op must have done it. Can't see anyone getting nearly as much from that squad as him.

It's going to be WEIRD. I've never known another manager at OT (like everybody under ~35). SAF = Man Utd.

I think it'll be Phelan and that we'll see a similar thing from Fergie to Dario Gradi at Crewe. Phelan will do the day to day but Fergie will still have a big role to play until Phelan is ready to completely take over or a suitable replacement turns up. I like Moyes but he isn't ready.

If Moyes isn't ready now, he never will be. He's 50. If United appoint him, it'll be because they're looking for another long-term manager, so waiting another five years for him to get CL experience at Schalke (as was rumoured a few weeks back) or wherever, doesn't make much sense. He's a good manager with two problems; lack of CL experience and a tendency to be negative when the stakes are raised. Having said that, I don't think there's a better option with Premier League experience (Wenger? Now wouldn't that be hilarious?)

When a Man U supporter confirmed the news at work I said to him that for Fergie it might be a perfect time but for Man U I'm not so sure. Firstly having been there so long it was always bound to rock the boat some what but also the Man U team is one in developing and what they did win was the league this year and that was partly down to them and partly down to failures of the other clubs.

Favourite seems to be Moyes and personally I think he fits better than Mourinho would at Man U but then I wouldn't rule out the Glazers doing something really odd.

Has Jupp Heynckes already got a job lined up? Pep's replacing him despite an incredible season at Bayern and he's got CL experience. I'm surprised someone like him is not in the frame.

We always seem to get the same faces bouncing around all the premiership teams

Even if he wasn't retiring he's getting on a bit, he's only 4 years younger than Fergie, can't imagine Man U going for him with regards to stability etc.

I don't think Moyes is good enough. He has taken a club with no money and kept them close to the top four...yeah fair play to him, however he has no real CL experience and has not managed a top team before.
Unfortunately I cannot think of a suitable example so I will use Mick McCarthy (apologies if I am wildly wrong on him). He gets clubs into the EPL, however he does bugger all when they are promoted. You use him to get promoted, then bring in someone else.

I just don't think Moyes has the reputation to lure top players, nor has he proved himself on the world stage.

2009-2010 - 8th
2008-2009 - 5th

Is Moyes fantastic at Everton? Fuck yeah, but he's unproven with a top team.

United will always lure top players regardless of who is their manager. The club is so well organised they really don't need a big name. Moyes or the current assistant would be fine.

Tottenham score some great goals don't they.

How much had Alex had before Man U, also players join clubs because a number of factors with the manager probably being lower down the list of deciding factors.

But on the flip side he's a "club" guy, not a "first team" guy. He's a much better cutural fit with the United management style than anyone else available, except, although I was joking earlier, Wenger, but he's too old. And don't forget, Fergie isn't going to be gone, so Moyes will have help with the CL stuff, but I think he's enough of his own man to deal with Fergie interference.
