Yeah it is, and I agree with Cho about the champs league places going to the domestic cup winners.
Also, how could it mean 8th in the league getting the champs league spot? The proposal is for teams 7th to 4th to play a play off.

Oh yeah my bad, 7th not 8th. Big mistake there.

Giving cup winners champions league places would at least mean you would have to win something to qualify so thats quite a good idea.

It would also see a massive boost to the importance of the carling cup - although it probably is a far, far to easy route into the champions league.

edit:// What about 1st and 2nd qualify, FA cup winners qualify, and then 6th-3rd go into a play off. There is usually not much difference between 6th and 4th in terms of points. Would definitely mean a balanced flow of champions league cash.

Football (the champions league in particular) is all about how to generate as much cash as humanly possible.

I don't think anyone would argue that a 4th to 7th place playoff to get in the champions league would generate a substantial amount of money in both gate receipts and TV rights, etc.

It's also not really any more stupid than the 6th place team getting promoted to the premiership instead of the 3rd place team is it?

As well as the money for the playoff games it would also mean there would be less dead rubbers between the middle prem teams at the end of the season, so more money to be made there as well.

I may seem silly to us now, but financially it's pretty much a no-brainer.

Arsenal boys - WTF? Have you seen your injury list of players that have not travelled to Portugal?

Eduardo, Arshavin, Song, Gallas and Almunia!

Richest mebbe but they can't even fill thier stadium and have to give tickets away on a regular basis with special offers to get the 'hardcore' (and I do use that term lightly as they are a bunch of cheap doley bastards mostly) fans in. :D

Gary Neville said it right 'City are a massive club'. Crap history, crap cheap assed fans who can't even fill what is the 6th biggest stadium in England week in week out unless they do kids for a fiver and bogof promotions. :p

Fellani is out for 6 months. Everton really are cursed when it comes to injury.

Direct result of the kyriakos red card challenge btw.

GoGo Pienaar!

Unlucky for us too losing Fellaini, 6mths is horrible. But Arteta has come back at the ideal time i guess.

Wouldn't wish injury on any player but I can't say I'm too upset for Fellaini. One of the dirtiest players the Premier League has seen in many a year with his flailing elbows and two footed challenges. 'Live by the sword, die by the sword' and all that.
