Before the injury Gibbs was staking a claim for at least backup left back. I'm not sure if he is ready for England though need to see him in some more big games.

Well if this goes through it sucks. It effectively lets Portmouth off the hook, offers them a chance to pay their debts and stay in the Premiership if results improve. Ok they look doomed to relegation anyway, but while theres games theres a chance.

One rule for the Premiership, a different rule for every one else.

Portsmouth rescue mission: Premier League set to hand debt-ridden Pompey a lifeline | Mail Online

Where were the Premiership when we had financial problems? Oh yeah, they were fucking nowhere to be seen. And the Football League? They docked us 25 points and are leaving every other League club to fend for themselves.

This is the kind of move that I would want the premier league to make.

THe club will be due that money anyways, it wont stop them going into administration (well i doubt it) but it will stop them ceasing to exist and thus ruining the season for all the fans. I think it is paramount that Portsmouth make it to the end of the season for the sake of the League.

Complaining about not helping other clubs in lower leagues? It isnt down to the premier league to save clubs that are outside of it, the money they earn is for the clubs involved and as is they do hand some of that money down to lower league and grass roots football.
Helping championship and lower leagues is down to the association that deals with them, afteral you wouldnt ask spanish league to help premiership etc. That is up to the football league involved to do so. Lower leagues - they dont have the guarenteed income that the premier league does. Afteral you dont get about £15m for getting relegated from championship to league 1, this is money that a club would be due and so if needs to be advanced to allow the continued survival then so be it.

Personally if I was the chairmen of another team I would make a simple agreement. I would allow this to go through on the condition that the club gets hit with the administration punishments even if they dont go into official administration.
This will basically guarentee Portsmouth's relegation which is pretty much definate as is, it will mean that they will then have opportunity to get some players on the cheap etc which will help teams promoting or in lower half of the league etc due to contract clauses the players will have about relegation conditions.

As long as the money is given direct to the HMRC to drop the case and not given to portsmouth then I be happy. If it goes to portsmouth to "deal with themself" then I can see it being a shit storm

As a southampton fan it makes me particulary sick given the options that were given to us when we went into administration.

They should fucking rot for getting into a mess, this just sends out the message of 'don't worry about keeping a company intact, mount debts then get the premier league step in saves joo'

Joke.

It is fundamentally wrong yes, I can see it happening though because otherwise the fallout damage could be significant.

I did say the premier league would not allow pompey to collapse.

And as for the Leeds argument, they had already left the premier league before facing the worse of their problems financially. You'd have just hoped more clubs had learnt the lesson from them. It's bad management at the end of the day, and fans should not be made to pay for bad leadership.

Pompey are going down anyway, and will probably go into administration, why wish for them to be wound up? It's not good when any club goes for good. Real sour grapes from some of you.

In the short term I think it's time FIFA and the FA's of the world introduce some draconian financial rules to stop clubs fucking themselves over.

What I love most about Giggs (more in his younger years) is how he ran at players. The ball would stick to his feet which alot of fast players cannot do and he'd zig zag either side of the opponent. They'd end up falling over trying to counter his movements hehe.

I would love to ask the Arsenal defense what went through their head when Giggs scored that amazing goal against them. I think it's on par with this one from Maradona

It's more that the League clubs would be wound-up and fucked off, yet the same happens to a Prem club and there straight to usher to save them. Where was the helping hand for Chester? or Luton?

The Premier League is worth a fortune and has lots of cash League 1 ect don't I don't see Premiership clubs agreeing to give away Premiership money to save a League one team. Sucks but everyone looks after their own.

That isnt up to the premier league to sort. If you got a problem with that then the issue is totally with the Football League, not the premier league.

They are totally seperate entities and so work differently. The premier league knows that losing a team in the middle of a season will have a lot worse affect then by just making money available to them 3months early.

Remember, this is not a loan or anything. It is money the club will be due from playing in the league this season. The amount a non-premiership club is due is tiny in comparison and therefore there would be no point advancing them money as it wouldnt actually help them.

That was true, the intention was that the money would flow down there but it seldom makes it into the CCC. Just find it wrong that is all.

We outplayed them for 60 mins, started to tire, and after their second went in they turned us over.

Disappointed, obviously, but didn't expect much else.

If Lambert was in the box rather than taking all of our fucking set pieces we'd have won.
