Thank fuck for that, we have been our own worse enemies so far tonight. All important away goal secured. We need to change the system 2nd half, push scholes up and let carrick and fletcher sit back more.

Scholes is the king of the trick shot. Completely left it with his swinging leg to play it with his standing leg. Skills.... lol.

Milan should be slaughtering us. We been awful in defense

the whole team looks shaky whenever ronaldinho has the ball. Rooney is quality as usual though. Nani looks like a little schoolboy on the wing. Good player, however his lack of football intelligence is shown against opponents like milan.

They should keep VDS for another few years. :)

/edit: also, why is fletcher on the wing and not park?

I agree, we really do need a top notch keeper to replace VDS. If we dont get one then the longer he there the better. . . . the missus reckons he still be our best keeper even if he was in goal with a walking stick!

She is probably right as well.

Fletcher is probably on the "wing" because they want someone that a bit more defensive. But I actually think he not particularly playing on the wing. The 5 man midfield has him slightly on the inside at times.. just depends on where park and nani are.

Exactly Wonk, put park on the wing, let fletcher play his normal game in the middle.

Are watching the game? Milan have been better for 30 minutes in the first half, and 5 in the second. Otherwise we have been better, they are unable to deal with any counter-attacks.

lol @ scholes rolling around and acting like he's been hit in the head, and then getting up the second milan gets the ball.

He's learning from the italians wonk.

And wtf at the ref? Evra kicks the ball away and Carrick gets the yellow card and a sending off?

heh, it was quite funny - he obviously doesn't dive enough, because it was nowhere near pippo-class :)

it looked something like this

YouTube- BIGGEST CHEAT IN FOOTBALL SOCCER HISTORY

as for the carrick card, I think he kicked the ball away. I noticed he did that 2-3 times earlier in the match.

I believe Evra did the foul but Carrick kicked it away, at least that is the way is sounded.

How long till Mancini is sacked? Keeps dropping points against sides he should be expected to beat, ala Hughes. :D

I haven't seen a replay of it yet, but he was running onto the ball anyway from what I could tell, it looked like evra hit it into him to me first time round. In the last 20 seconds of the game it was hardly worth a sending off from the ref.

I actually think that the ball was kicked by Evra and hit Carrick. He didnt kick it but it deflected off him. But need to see a replay to be sure. Watching CSI now though :p

Saw the replay, carrick backheeled it all of 10 yards. Very poor refereeing to send him off for that tbh.

The sort of thing you'd get away with at home in the Premier League, but not in a Champion's League game against big name opposition.

Why did Beckham start? Shit and past it, could say the same for Seedorf but he saves himself for these games and looked good when he came on. Beckham may have initiated the first goal but his delivery isnt much better than Pirlo or Ronnie.

not exactly true. I was watching the last Milan match with a friend who's a massive fan of them, and beckham was definately one of the better players.

Milan deserved more then this.

i disagree.

The got a lucky goal at the start of the game, beyond that their finishing was awful for most the game.

They had the upper hand for maybe 35minutes across the whole match. Being that they ruled the first 30minutes where they should have got a couple of goals up but failed to hit the target and then 5minutes or so in the 2nd half.

They had possession, but most the time couldnt breach the defense of united and as the game went on united started to dominate because milan didnt pace themself and tired quickly.
Milan only really created chances when the united team done silly things and giving the ball away in dangerous areas. If not for that I dont think milan would have had a look in, apart from a couple of very good long range efforts that is.

I actually forgot that Pato was playing last night, especially in the 2nd half. And I am absolutely amazed at the fact that their wingers to almost nothing when they havent got the ball.

So in short, milan could have been a couple goals up early and the game would have been different. But they didnt and after that Utd were the team that dominated the threatening play.

for being tactically naive this season yet again? Leonardo simply does not know what he is doing at this level. Man utd were error prone in the first half, and Milan failed to capitalise on that.

They had lots of possession, but apart from errors on our part, did little with it. They can play the ball about in midfield all they want.

Your comments so far have said man utd were "lucky", and milan were better. You have provided no proof of this, or analysis, just trolling throw away comments. We played our usual away game of counter-attack, knowing this Milan should not have insisted on playing three upfront, especially Pato and Ronaldinho who never track back. It was a ridiculous gamble. Had Nani been on better form with his crossing we would have been ahead in the first half - even while we were making defensive errors.

Milan deserved not much more than they got, for all their intricate passing, they created little on their own, and never looked a threat after we got over our first half nerves. They will now have to come to Old Trafford, and try and win by 2 clear goals. An Italian team, away from home, having to attack. LOL.
