If United don't win this i bet Rafael will be kicking himself.

#1 for getting sent off and
#2 for not passing the ball to Rooney who was in a better position when he leathered his shot wide.

It will come with experience, it's what cost us the tie. Nothing we could really have done differently after he got sent off, the bayern defenders made sure Rooney felt his ankle all night, so he had to go too.

Can't be too harsh on him, he was trying hard and had a good game, he is young and can only improve.

Painful result though.

Got to agree with others, I think Inter will do Barca, no one better than Jose at killing of a superior creative team when needed. He will make it a game of grind. It won't be pretty and it will be close. I think Lyon could do Bayern in.

Oh yeah that reminds me. The commentators were blabbing on about Bayern players going in hard on Rooney and how disgraceful it was that a side could do that, while during the same game ManUtd players were doing the exact same thing to Robben.

Hypocritical *****.

Following Taggart's comments about 'typical Germans' hassling the ref, I thought it would be a good idea to play a little game. It's called 'spot the german':

I also found it quite funny Fergie said Rooney was able to play because he only had a soft tissue injury.

Has noone told him that includes ligaments? I.e - something fundamentally important and frequently injured by players? :D

If you listened to his full comments, the medical staff were fully satisfied Rooney could play, he went through intensive training sessions and showed he was fully capable.

Playing Rooney was not the wrong decision, he was the spear head against Bayern in the first half, we would not have got the goals we did had he not been there. Blackburn is a game Berbatov can lead the line in, and we have the option of Macheda too. Rooney might be okay for the game, but it's more important for him to be 100% against Man City.

Man Utd's season comes first, the world cup second.

Fergie does annoy me in the way he has to much sway over refs . Lots of managers this season have got angry at the end of a game and complained, All get fined and punished. Fergie does it and Mike Dean is relegated to Championship for a bit lol. Wonder if Fergie will get in trouble over his german comments.

I`m not a big Bayern fan (in fact, I can´t stand them... arrogant pricks etc.), but this game was one of the best football games I`ve seen in the last few months if not years. The tension and fighting spirit on both sides was great. This is how high level international football should be.

He has a point about players crowding the ref, although UTD are one of the worst for it.

I think the only players who should be anywhere near the ref are the two players involved and the two captains, anyone else who tries to intimidate the ref should be yellow carded, if that means they get sent off then tough. You will find this crap stops sharpish once they start dealing with it properly.

Hopefully next season this'll be one of the clampdowns. It's got better this year but still not completely ridden, along with all the grappling at corners.

Give a penalty if it happens, give multiple penalties per game if necessary, just do it harshly to get rid of it :)

Man Utd arent actually that bad now days, depending on the position of the pitch you generally only have 2 utd players at most at the referee, unless it an absolutely malicious act.

Still think it strange that Rafael got the 2nd yellow for what he did, when bommel (iirc) done something very similar in 1st half after his yellow card and got away with it.

I agree with ch3tan, rest rooney against blackburn (bench him if he not too bad), get him in against man city. that is key

He wouldn't get in the Scotland side tbh, verging on the boring side of average.

Less than 24 hours :worthy:

Its news that every football fan wants to hear though. No one wants to hear taggart moaning about germans, we all want to sit round messi with baited breath, listening to what he says next so in 40 years time, when your grandsons ask you "grandpa, ive read about this legend known as messi", and you will be able to say "well grandson, it was my era, I remember him well" and then pull out all the quotes he has said.

They started well Eboue got 2 yellows early on for telling the ref what to do and we got a fine for more than 5 players surrounding the ref. Which i though was great but it has slowly dissipated as the season wore on. FA were probably worried about the fair play league lol.

The premier league aint as bad as most leagues to be honest, when it comes to europe the English teams actually need to pressure the ref a lot more. Many situation last night alone where by crowding the ref there would have been more cards, as shown by Munich on a couple of occassions.

I'd love it if that rumour was true, 10 goals and 14 assists so far this season. The guys has become top class since moving to Villa. Can't imagine them selling, although the rumour that O'neil was willing to sell a top name to buy new squad players does give it some more weight.
