Don't worry. England are the most overrated national team in the world.

If you take club form into account and the team on paper, they should be a match for anyone. They just seem to underperform all the time at the big events. Maybe capello can change this

err and brazil?
And don't underestimate the dutchies!

with van persie, robben, sneijder, van der vaart as attacking force and bommel, de jong as defensive mids, they can play extremely well, then again, their defence isn't that worldclass

the serial under achievers, yes don't underestimate them... :)

You dont?

I've never been silly enough to consider a player the greatest ever, same as I've never considered one driver from F1 the greatest ever as comparing one directly to another isn't in reality practical.

I think he is certainly one of the best at the moment but I'm not so blinded by personally supporting the club he plays in nor do I rate games like last night where the team was setup for him against a defense that leaked like a sieve although he took full advantage to his credit.

Like others have said he has to it over a lot longer period of time.

Totally in agreement with you Embattle. If he goes on as he is doing at the moment for another 3-4 years, plays a big part in Argentina winning a world cup then potentially calling him the greatest ever will be viable.

I said he was the best in world at the moment, not one of the best. I asked you if you didnt think that and you swerved the question and said you dont think hes the best ever :s

As ive said, I couldnt make it, but you should have had knocked one out yourself when you was there. You had the privilege of seeing, live, the greatest footballer you will ever see in your lifetime.

Messi is a god

He is impressive to watch, very good, totally understandable as to why Barcelona fans think the way they do and not that different from most fans ;)

cho cho!

What you think will happen in tonights game?
I actually got a nagging feeling that we going out of the competition tonight, just not sure that we be able to turn over the pretty much full strengh munich side.

Can see the match finishing in a draw, or something crazy like a 3-2 win that puts us out on away goals.

lol bollocks, it won't last long! :D Nevermind, once Real Madrid win La Liga that might keep you on the backfoot for a couple of weeks! ;)

El Classico on saturday - Madrid need to win by at least 1 goal to negate the head-to-head record. Personally i think Barca will win - they just know how to torment the Madrid back 4.

Rooney starting tonight, big risk for Fergie if he gets crocked again!

It is indeed a risk i didnt expect. I thought he would stick him on the bench for an emergancy. I would rather him be fit for the rest of the league games then to risk him in this match. It really is a surprise.

Neville dropped from the team, thank god, I hope that young rafael can do the business though. He got bags of pace and good offensive play, but sometimes he makes rash decisions on the touch line, trying to win headers he cant reach and putting an attacker in teh clear. Do this with ribery or robben and it could cost us. That said Im glad Neville aint in, he cost us alot.

..
GIbson being in the team could be good for us. He better defensively then scholes/giggs so could help support the team better

Anyone else think the Bayern players will test out Rooneys ankle tonight with a few tough tackles?

Nervous times now as an England fan.

This sounds bad but at this stage I don't care about England, United pay his wages and have made him a multi millionaire, he is our player and it is our risk to take. If it backfires then our season is in real danger but if it pays off it is worth millions to us and helps get us back on track again after 2 poor defeats.

Fucking hell, that was a blistering start, Rooney looks fine, although Fergie should take him off now.

We have so much more pace in the team than we did in Bayern, and Gibson is very good in midfield. Can see him and Fletcher becoming the first choice pairing next year.

I cant see rooney coming back at second half tbh

Ref seems to want to let the game continue no matter what lol.

crazy there, carrick was awful in the box then, and van der sar should have closed olic down.

edit: considering the scoreline now, and the risk of them getting a 2nd, we can't take Rooney off now. If we play Berba we won't be the risk we are now on the break, the build up will be slower and in front of their defenders

Olic is an awesome striker, even slightly better than Heskey :D But Carrick was his normal lightweight self ... for "the best player at Manchester United" he is a bit disappointing.

Carrick was lazy and weak, that really cost us now.

Half time at 3-0 allowed rooney to come off, half time a 3-1 means he probably gonna have to go to at least an hour.
3-2 was the score line I feared, and unfortunately that on the ball at the moment.

Hoping we come out quick fire in the 2nd half, bag another 2 goals, rooney subbed in the 52nd minute and the game seen out. With luck we get a repeat of roma and a 7-1 scoreline.

...
It is clear though that the centre backs of munich are "under orders" to nibble at rooney's ankle. Fergi should hint to our players to batter robben and hit mask man in the face by accident.
..

Much better ref then last night, with this performance I hope he has the final because he wont be worried about the diving ponces that alot of footballers are.

To be fair to him his work to get back and his position was good, he provided the cover for Rio and Vidic, just flopped on the challenge.
