No offence to Arsenal, because they're a better team than Villa, but what does Wenger see in players like Nasri and Rosicky? I just don't see what they do. In the Premier League they both know how to dive and con the ref but they just seem to be nothing players. Can pass a bit, dive a bit and that is about it.

And much as I like Walcott's pace - if he is the best hope you have when attacking then, to be frank, you're screwed.

Would have been interesting to see that tie played between the two full strength sides though, would have been much more even (and less of a Messi wankfest, which is also good).

they're team players - I don't think it would work with 11 individualists.

They're not the best players in the world though - I agree with that.

Nasri is a fantastic player, i'd rate him behind only Milner in the Aston Vlla team personally.

First half i knew they would end up mullered. Walcott was just so lazy defensively the poor defender constantly was being pulled in circles.

Definately wish had both full teams there though so had a proper enjoyable game

I think I just saw Marc implode in the crowd. There was a fountain of cream, and then nothing.

Unfortunately not. As is typical, I couldnt make the trip in the end due to an important job comming up at work that only I could handle. I made my feelings perfectly clear to my boss today and very nearly handed my notice in. Just to rub it in, my friends have been sending me picture messages taking the piss. Cest la Vie I guess.

Well, what can you say after that. I dont think we played particulary well, not as good as the first leg anyway, but when you have a player who is on another planet to everyone else then this is what can happen. There arent enough superlatives to describe messi.

As for Arsenal, well Wenger cost Arsenal any chance of winning the tie by risking three of his best players in the first game, a fit Gallas, Arshavin and Fabregas in the team tonight and it might have been a different story. As it was Arsenal handed the initiative to Barcelona in the first match carrying too many passengers (look how they improved when the injured players limped off and players who could actually move came on) and the result of them aggravating their injuries was a thrashing tonight, and any chance of winning the PL going.

Nasri could be a great player, he falls over to much though, and I think he plays better through the middle than from the wing. Rosiky looked very very tired tonight, he's never been the same since his injury(s).

Really? If I were being generous I would say he was similar to Downing, except with added diving and moaning at the ref ability :D I don't watch too many games that Villa don't play in, though, so I might be underselling him.

And FFS why couldn't you beat InterMilan. You know a midweek game in Moscow would have been the perfect preparation for the FA Cup semi. I have my ticket for the game and a pass to park in the players car park at Villa, which is rather nice -- am going down with the prawn sandwich brigade and will be sitting in the expensive seats.

It's the only way to watch your team lose. :(

As I said he is without doubt very good but I think Messi has some sort of aura that means the defenders against him turn into utter muppets.

Will be interesting to see how Inter face up to Barcelona - the first leg at home is a big blow for Mourinho though. If theres one manager left in this competition who's most likely to outwit Barcelona it'll be Jose.

Won't be a pretty affair but i'm sure that won't phase him

Well without doubt we'll be focused on the league (i am) and you'll be a completely different side with a point to prove. Wembley is a whole other cup of tea :)

So no credit to messi then? Its just defenders that make him look so good?

Did say messi should have at least bagged a couple against the first leg arsenal defense, would been something wrong if he didnt manage it tonight with an even worse one.
Still 4 goals is impressive.

If people can say Man Utd are a 1 man side, then clearly on tonights game that has to be said about Messi. Because I dont think that Barcelona would have got far without him (especially on first half)

When you have the 3 best midfielders in the world in Messi, Iniesta and Xavi there is no way you can be called a one man team.

Yeah I read about that aswell this morning in the paper, but SAF still says he might not risk it as it could blow his entire season

Too many injuries and too many players not playing their best cost us :( I said for Weeks Denilson and Diaby can both be great players but only when they play at 100% and sadly neither did yesterday and it left Nasri constantly covering for them which killed us going forward.

This is not an excuse Messi deserved to go though but the ref spoilt the game he fell for them falling over every time. It meant we ended up booked in important positions and could not tackle aggressively.

I did see a guy in the Barce end furiously tugging himself off and staring right at Messi so i suppose that was Marc :)

At present he's a god - but he's only really been on this level for 2 years.

If he can maintain it over the next 10 then he'll be on the same level as Zidane, Cruyff et al. He also needs to do it at the WC this year.

A world class player for sure, but all-time best? Too soon to call.

Iknow, i mean, look what happened to Ronaldinho. But what messi has going for him is that he is a model pro. Doesnt drink, party or anything like that. Ronaldinho was up there with Best in the partying stakes

Messi will be a god when he maintains it into his late 20s.

To many players who are supremely talented at a young age go off the boil mid-20s, Ronaldinho says hi.

I've watched Paul McGrath play. You can keep your overrated Argentinians, give me a hard drinking, ball clearing, Irish man any day of the week.

Please stop talking rubbish, he is just a football player who is one of the best at the moment and I kind of suspect it was more annoying to watch the game for Arsenal supporters to watch there own team do very little.

- England cuz of Capello

- Argentina cuz of Messi (plus Higuain)

err and brazil?
And don't underestimate the dutchies!

with van persie, robben, sneijder, van der vaart as attacking force and bommel, de jong as defensive mids, they can play extremely well, then again, their defence isn't that worldclass
