also, you get to kill people like Jup with fireaxes which makes it worth the price anyway.

Ep 2 + TF2 costs $60 in total, the orange box is $45. I agree it sucks that they make you buy HL2 and Ep1 too but ultimately it works out cheaper.

Well it seams steam download servers are either shit or getting totally hammered at the moment. Download speed has been shit all day despite me already having HL2 installed.
So far been Dling since 12ish and am at 65%

Yeah I had some updates to do today and they came down at 12k/s - ordinarily I get about 500k-800k/s from their servers.

HL2:Ep2 and Portal pre-loaded too

Its because the preload for Portal and HL2:Ep 2 have just been made available , that would be what is killing the servers.

Download started fast, got to 87% then slowed down, but now seems to be faster than yesterday! Noob with a gun inc soon!

Keep getting an out of memory direct3d engine error. It wants me to lower my graphics settings, fuck that it worked fine a few days ago.

you tried forcing a DirectX level rather than dropping the actual settings ? and are you using Vista/DX10 ?

use the startup option "-dxlevel xx" 81 for 8.1 , 91 for 9.1, etc for the versions of DX

Edit; apparently turning OFF hardware sound in DirectX config can help a lot aswell, if you havent tried that ?

i -think- its universal release date. so when its out in the US, its out on steam, so the rest of us can start at the same time. thats for orange box etc, for off the shelf type, who knows

running at dx 8.1 works, but it aint as pretty :/ valve better sort it quick.

The game is great fun though, had a play with a few of the classes, spy is the only one i seem to be able to get the hang of.

Love the pyro! especially good on the maps where you can get above a group of enemy and drop in the middle of them, just spin around with you flame-thrower on taking them all out lol

Only problem I have seen is that everyone seems to be playing for themselves on the servers I have been on. Not much teamwork going on.

Same here but public servers are like this in everything so im a Spy just doing what i can.

Been playing a bit today, its so much fun!
I'm quite good at the medic although am starting to get the hang of the spy, I love it when you get off a sucessful backstab + vanish and get away! Awesome!
Gotta play with the rest soon!
