I can't honestly think of more than two current subscription mmo's that, while not shit exactly, certainly aren't much good.

Maybe EvE and DAoC? Depends on your preferences i guess.

Maybe WoW? Maybe?

DF...shit
FE...boring
SWG...lol
PS...dead
EQ2...zzz
EQ...zzzzz
UO...zz
Aion...hmm...
TR...dead
STO...meh atm tbh....
LOTRO...more meh...
DDO...zzz and meh in abundance
WAR...zzz and dying a slow painful death
Alloids...hmmm......meh
MO...roflcopter

There's so many, just can't even be arsed to mention the rest.

MO = Matrix Online?

if so, also dead :)

and about that list of yours, i can agree on most of them, but EQ2 is imo pretty damn fun if you actually bother to play it more then as a solo game (thats only about half the game).

most if not all the instances are quite exellent, not WoW exellent but still very fun. and groups are never hard to come by as high lvl can mentor down to your level.

LOTRO is another game i love to hate while loving it. it seems to be a darn fun pve game but as i've never had any succesfull grouping in there i've given up on it as its still (despite the soloing buffs the game have had) is still very much a group oriented game..

Well eve... pve is dull... and pvp is good just have to wait 6months to be able to play...

Frankly would someone give or sell me a 10million skillpoint char whats the point of having a 3-6month grind to start playing then?...
Argh... feels like the devs know this everyone know you cant really fill a role until you have training skills and some basic pilot skills.

Pretty much only play friday night and sunday night when we have 25 and 10 man raids. Our cluster pretty much fucked up in the random dungeon department with to many crappy italian players that gives fuck all about non italians. And all our afkers or insta leavers. But then again running HC´s with 5 dps warriors is fun. :D

Mortal Online m8, which is a total dog, but i take your point, Matrix is RIP.

I just found EQ2 so samey and semi-WoW-ish, but i guess personal experience will always differ and that list was only my opinion afterall ;)

LOTRO is a great game, but i wouldn't resub to it as once you have gotten a few different race toons to top level and ground out all the content, there really isn't much to go back for. Monster play sucks monkey nuts.

I love that LOTRO has oodles of hidden stuff, but again it's all been found now and normalised through the power of tinternet (what Northerners use).

I had a fiddle with LORTO when it first came out, a mate had got lifetime on it, (which if memory serves, was only £99 - Cryptic, you scrooges!!) and did the tutorial thingy.

I remember quite liking it, but not liking it enough to buy. Even on a monthly sub.

LOTRO lifetime iirc came with that superbox game they had for sale for around £600.

unsure if they offered lifetime outside that, but i know it came with that box.

Todays 'State of the Game' Report
Thanks Talyn, I really don't have the patience to visit the main website for stuff. I don't know about you but I thought it was quite and interesting read. Very open and positive despite the horrific in jokes.

Yeah, i thought it was quite a good report. Can't say I'm looking forward to the death penalty, but if anything, I'm hoping it'll be like WoW - in that it's more of a time sink and inconvienience, rather than pushing your XP down etc.

If anything, I'd like it to be a monetary penalty, as cradits are easy to come by, and very little to spend it on.

But, new factions are due, which would really help to expand the game. Just need mroe character slots if they pull off what they say.

It helps keep my hope levels up when they post this kind of thing, and makes me feel less guilty for the lifetime sub!!

Todays 'State of the Game' Report

Thanks for posting. Some positive stuff but they concentrate far too much on fluff for my liking.

Still none of the issues i personally have with the game are being addressed, primarily the development of Klingons as a properly playable faction and not just monsterplay pvp fodder.

We get a shiney new ship.....well woop-de-do. We have ships, what we lack is anywhere to use them outside of pvp and buggy repeatable pve craptastic missions. All of which are broken, fixed, then rebroken.

They say respecs are coming........but haven't fixed or even addressed the baffling skill-point system.

Don't know how you feel about the STO forums (You do have to wade through a LOT of shit to find the useful stuff), but this thread might be of use to you, Tallen - Ask Cryptic: More Klingons! - Star Trek Online Forums

Greetings Captains!

We're prepping for another Ask Cryptic, and we'd like to feature Klingons again! We know that we've not released a great deal of information about what we have in store for our most honorable warriors, and we're going to change that!

Please post any question you have for us regarding the current state of the Empire, or the future of the Empire, which has gone unanswered in this thread. We won't get to them all, but we will answer as many as we can, and post them to website once we have them answered!

Thanks all!

So basicly no deathpenalty.. I meen if credits are easy to comeby and you loose "nothing"... deathpenalty doesn't meen a thing anyways.

i find all this talk about "death penalty" to be pretty stupid.

it will never be an actual penalty, just something slightly annoying..

a death penalty should be just that, a penalty!

like if you die you fucking stay dead. THATS a death penalty...

Frankly thats too harsh who wanna its still a game.. but like old emain with 10minute pad waiting that was a penalty... you got just angry at all the flaws you did and wanted to go back and teach those hibbies a lesson.

Thats fair, didn't think of it that way. Was thinking more of something to actually use the stuff you earn. maybe it could be impletmented in that say... when you blow up, your ship returns at 75% hull max. It won't repair over 75% at all. If you fight again, your hull is at 50% max. and cannot be repaired over that. Or 10% increments, or something.

You then need to get to one of the spacedocks (Sol, 24, DS9 etc) and pay cash to have your ship repaired. And the more damage you have, the more it costs. And maybe it takes tiime to fix, like 1 min per 5% or 10%

Maybe each 'destruction' also destroys a console - not the actual item, but the console slot. So anything you put into it doesn't work. Again, each time you die, you lose a console, until you repair at a starbase.

Anyway, that was more my train of thought...

Tend to agree with this.

STO is fine imo with no death penalty. All the pvp is essentially Team Deathmatch style anyway, with a death penalty the team on top has more chance of staying on top.

Interresting thread, thanks for posting, unfortunately it's on the official forums :(

First post is a good example of the problem with that forum "Joined Trill?" as if the Trill would side with the Klingons....

I tried with the official forums but it's just impossible to keep track of anything with the flood of negativity and crap mixed with avid hatred and fanboyism.

I know the game has problems and have my personal issues with some of it, but im not one dimensional in my thinking, people there are either hate or love and there really seems to be little room for reason and discussion.
