Word of advice for anyone considering crafting.....consider it very carefully and imo, at this moment in time at least, don't bother.

I spent a while yesterday figuring out how much i'd need to spend to get to the higher level stuff and it's insane.

As there is nothing to spend credits on anyway and you make so damn many of em, it's just going to be easier to save yourself the time and effort and buy crafed when you need it..if you ever need it. Every crafter will be selling exactly the same items, so in a few months the market will probably be swamped beyond belief. Check out the lowest tier torps for example, there are literally thousands of them for sale on the market.

Still unsure about rare mets at the top level (do they exist? i have no idea), never got that far, but i just can't see sales compared to the credit investment you'd have to make crafting paying you back....ever.

Going to take a second stab at the weekend, fool and his money and all that, but im not predicting great things.

I'm kinda thinking along that line - because there's so little information about the system, I'm just saving up the anomolies until they either do something with them, or remove them from the game.

It's on my 'to do' list, but very low priority - i'm finding I'm getting better stuff from drops anyway.

Hopefully they'll implement something of use at some point...

Ditto, fleet bank for good stuff, personal bank for this bullshit.

I was looking for that, a way to add a little note to someone on my friends list, but couldn't find an option. In fairness, I didn't look that hard!

Didn't find that myself, but I did do the DSE's and Exploration missions a bit.

i only did each once because well, thats all i could muster :)

tho it seems they bumped up the skillpoint rewards in pvp a tad now. generally getting more now win or lose then i did before yesterdays patch.

and MAN i love my science ship in pvp. 4 shield skills (RSF included) means i have a fair bit over 70% damage resists for 30 seconds :) couple that with Viral Matrix (insanely OP at 24 seconds) and jam targetting sensors and i'm virtually unkillable. can no problem survive 5 klinks stacked rapid fire for those 30 sec :)

and if all else fails i always have polirise shield frequency. to bad i cant do anything about that bleedthrough :(

sucks to blow up at 100% shield >.<

Just doing the Ultimate Klingon mission in my Science Ship my Nova hybrid and I am starting to get decent drops like Mark 4 or 5 Disruptor Cannons but can't use them as they are you Klingon vessels only.

Is there a Station or place I can get Mark 4 or 5 stuff for Fed Vessels I am still level 11 so I don't know if its just a case of it not being available to me yet, or do I have to wait for random drops as all I seem to get at the moment is engine batteries and I really don't need them.

Feds can use cannons on escorts.

Mark 5 is on the starbase in the Alpha Centauri sector (Sierra?), north of Sol. You can't normally buy even numbered items for energy credits, only badges (pvp or exploration).

For equipment at your level (Mark 3), I think you want to look at the SB near the klingon area, or see if there's anything cheap on the exchange.

That's it, yes.

If anyone wants to join the fleet, just ask me or anyone who's on. We'll be able to get you an invite.

on a target with no resists its ok, against a shield tanker its rather bad :)

2700 DPS minus ~85% = shit damage :p

think if i really wanted to and ditched VM and all the other control skills i can bump my damage resists to a tad over 90% for 30 seconds :)

My brain started to melt. Did I understand right that low end skills are basically a waste?

No, not at all.

It's complicated, if i read it right Tier 1 is the most efficient in regard of return per skill points spent, but has higher diminishing returns at the higher levels in that skill (i.e. level 9 in a tier 1 skill has a greater diminishing returns than level 9 in a tier 5 skill). Basically it's less efficient than spending those points in other skills of lesser diminishing returns.

Thats mute though if those skills are of no interrest to your chosen play style or build.

Very interresting read though, thanks for posting.

not at all, but as all tier 1 skills in any game, they arent as good as the higher tiers.

and then we ofc have the fact that you NEED to train t1 skills to rank up to lt commander. :)

Patch notes...

The full notes are here.

This bit maybe of use -

# Fleet Bank Updates - Options are now grayed out and disabled for players who don't have permission to change them. The Limit field is now filled with the current limits set. And restrictions should now be working properly. They were not updating until you switch tabs and then back. Fixed a bug where players could circumvent limits that were set.

So many people seem to be leaving, my entire klingon fleet have cancelled already, about 50 players....only two of us left by end of the free month, never experienced anything like this before in an mmo so early, a few always leave...thats normal attrition...but practically everyone is off :(

Talking to a few former Planetside mates of mine who bought STO, they are all leaving as well.

It can't just be me who's having fun, i quite like STO, it's not that bad from other peoples perspectives, surely?

Can't edit above after a brief fed ganking session, seems it's not as many as 50 leaving, there's a dozen of us left, so not so bad. Guess i shouldn't take people on vent at their word all the time ;)

I'm really liking it and given the franchise I think it will get steadily better.

Same here, still having tons of fun, and managed to get a few more people to join. I think that 5day Trial will get more people to play aswell.

IGN review...

Star Trek Online Review - PC Review at IGN

its not pretty, and after reading it i kinda see what he's on about.

there was very little in that review i was outright disagreing with. wich probably is a first as i generally dont agree at all with IGN's reviews, but this guy actually look like he's PLAYED the game.

i still LIKE the game and will keep playing it on a casual basis untill they add klingon pve missions, but all in all the guy is right...
