Hmm so is there less stuff for a klingon player?

Think LOTRO monster play.

They plan on expanding the klingon content, but it's in a terrible state atm, most is bugged or broken or simply not there.

Thankfully pvp is fun, but many Klingons now only KVK (klingon vs klingon house conflicts) as feds are daftly easy to kill because there is little balance between the two factions and Fed v Klingon pvp is woefully predictable and boring.

KvK is awesome fun though, it's what i spend all my game time doing. Awesome comraderie between klingon kvkers and it seems to avoid the QQ you get in FvK.

Think the usual scrum but the occasional 1v1 batleth fight on ground and space is always cagey but rapidly deteriorates into a mass slug fest of evenly balanced ships once the initial cloaking chess-game is over :)

Reading that really makes me regret subbing for a year :(

I still think it's a great game, but I can see the klingon faction isolating themselves from feds a lot more in the future as it's just more fun to fight other klingons on an even keel.

yep, trying to pvp as a fed is pretty useless now as all that will happen is a load of klingons decloak and using bugged BO skills that ignore 100% of the shields, making most of our defenses worthless...

and i'm not about to start flying cruisers just so i can hull tank.

i like the game, but i have got my lifetime sub refunded.

I just cant see this being a long term game anymore as it is too casual with too little too do. Grouping is just too tough and to be frank im bored as hell with soloing already.

The game just full of complainers and gold sellers. Complainers dont realise it take time to get things into shape, but i decided that i do not wish finance the changes and hope for the best this time ... partly due to the fact that in CO they charging for a new zone that should have been in for release and only any good for the last few levels.

Hopefully in time it get better and i will sub for it, but the £150 that getting refunded can now go towards the £190 pair of shoes my missus has had to buy for our wedding (damn her hobbit like feet)

Doh!

Still I did once buy Neocron and that really was shite so I guess you hang tuff n hope for great patches.

i tried that a while ago, ran into some room in the tutiorial where 2 (supposedly) really badass mobs were and died and got some sort of "game over" message.

so i uninstalled it REALLY fucking fast after that :)

mostly they do, what they dont understand is why cryptic released it now. as was mentioned in the review:

Now, almost all MMOs are "unfinished" by definition. The typical MMO is endless, and new content and features are added after the game's release to ensure players always have something to do, but STO is, at its core, missing a lot.

its missing ALOT more then the typical MMO that gets released, and champions online have the exact same problem. (with the added bonus that cryptic tried to release a paid "expansion" not even a year after release, and one that only catered to make the last 3, 4 levels easier)

i mean, klingons were never meant to be a pure pvp faction, then a few weeks into closed beta cryptic suggested that they were gonna make them just that with the guaranteed nukelear bomb getting launched from the players wich then made cryptic change their mind again.

so now klingons are forced to pvp (and does so more against eachother then against federation) while waiting for something they SHOULD have from the beginning.

all in all there really isnt much thats properly wrong with STO, its just missing to much stuff.

The QQ is indeed strong both ingame and on the official forums, it's understandable as the game isn't the greatest, but that doesn't make it any easier to stomach while you are playing.

Grouping in pve is irrelevant, grouping in pvp is useful, but not essential.

I tend to agree with you, I'm considering taking a break from March for a while, but will keep a close eye on STO as i still think, even with all it's flaws, it's a fun game kvk-wise.

Problem I found is the fed content is very dull once you run out of storyline missions. The early storyline missions are awesome, but there just aren't enouigh of them and they seem to almost dry-up after lvl 20ish.

C-store annoys me as well. We pay to buy the game, we pay an elevated subs fee and then we have to pay again to get access to all the content. Cryptic introduced a SP cap which at first seemed pointless, until you realise that respecs, which will now be essential thanks to the crap skill-tree system and the baffling points cap will likely be C-store purchases only....so we have to shell out more cash.

After Hellgate I had hoped they would have learnt their lesson, now while im not convinced Atari don't have a hand in this, it seems quite likely that they are money grabbing again and it'll probably eventually be to the detrement of the game.

Oh, and Hobbits are usualy barefoot, perhaps you could try and put forth that argument and pocket the cash ;)

dont think its so much Atari as CBS or whatever company that actually owns the star trek brand.

/edit: its CBS, and i have a hunch its CBS that also made Cryptic rush the release aswell.

How did you get it refunded mate? I am going to follow suit.

edi:// I managed to cancel my sub, it said that my subscription now expires at the end of feb, but it has not given me a refund into my paypal account or any indication that this will be done?

I put in a request for a refund to Cryptic through the billing support.

Probably helps that i didnt use any of the bonus things that came with it (no borg player character etc).

Cancelling account isnt actually what it seems and isnt explained. From what I figured that is just there so that if you want to leave the subs stop instantly so you can break the addiction however they dont refund any outstanding subscription
...
as for the rushed release.
From what i figure from reading around a fair bit is the rushed release was due to CBS.

Prior to cryptic having the rights they were in the hand of another company. This company had them for many many years and didnt do anything beyond 1 or 2 conceptual drawings.

Due to this when CBS awarded the rights to Cryptic they stuck a clause in it that stated they had to have the game released within 2 years. Clearly this is not enough time to put out a fully developed game, especially for a small company that working on another MMO at the same time and with limited funds.

......

As the first month is free and so effectively the lifetime sub doesn't begin until the beginning of March it's likely they will continue to refund lifetime subs until that date.

However, if the bullplop on the forums is to be believed, there seems to be inconsistencies in their stance on refunds. Some state they have recieved a full refund, some claim they have been promised a refund but they haven't recieved it and some claim Cryptic simply say either no, or don't reply at all.

Cryptic seem to be avoiding the official forums, considering the state of them thats not unsurprising, and never seem to answer this direct question.

it take upto 30days for the refund to go through, i expect to get it without a problem.

I think the cryptic stance depends on how you approach them tbh, i always found you get a better response if you are concise but polite on the issues.

I've raised a ticket with billing, explained that I don't wish to pay for a game that has such limited content. Hopefully I'll get the money back, play out my last few days, and then sub again in a few months if things improve.

i no longer got access to the game, wondering if it is because with a lifetime subscription your "free time" isnt logged. Raised a billing issue for that now :p

For some reason there no option to use paypal as a payment option for monthly subscription, I would have paid by that for 1 month but hey if they dont want my money then so be it as I refuse to use credit cards ever!

When you cancel a subscription there is an option to play to the end of your subs period, or cancel then and there and so not have that access anymore.

I wonder if one of these is a default for some reason for people cancelling lifetime subs?

No fuss or hassle, Cryptic have agreed to refund my sub.

Hopefully in a month or two the game will have some more content and I may give it another bash. Kind of annoyed I paid £40 for the first month and open beta though tbh.

That one thing that ood about cryptic, they are willing to refund when others wouldnt.

luckily i only paid £17 for the game so no fuss what so ever there. I pay double that on games that I dont play for a month due to completing them.
Gonna get no where near admiral due to my health recently, so may sub for a month to get to the borg areas etc. But will take at least 6months or more to get things to a better standard

Ya know what, i paid for the delux download and oddly im kinda glad i did.

While STO is a poor game at the moment, I have enjoyed my time playing and it's one of the few mmo's I have played where i actually believe the devs might make this a reasonably good game eventually.

IMHO, for it to be a better game they need at least 4 fully playable races with unique missions and storylines. The instanced rinse and repeat missions get old before you are out of tier 1.

They will, if they have enough subscribers for the game to last that long... sadly I'm not convinced it does.

I dunno, SW:G is still going, and that has what.. 3 or 4 players?

I'm not refunding the lifetime, I think ST:O will be around a while.. plus with the lifetime, I can now play another pay-by-month MMO... when I find one, anyway...

The exact reason I the same. Dont mind if I take a month or two off play something else then come back to it. Was going to this next month and give WAR another chance. Then possibly finish levelling my ranger in Aion after I got bored with it around level 45.

How I love teh COO of cryptic.

The support staff annoying me with replying to things without reading them, leaving me without access to the game as they removed my free subscription days. Issue dragging on.

Message the COO on the forums saying to speak to his support staff about actually reading peoples issues and the next morning my access to the game has been returned. :D

technically speaking probably shitloads more then that as many that play SOE games go for the station access deal wich gives sub to all their MMO's (if they have bought the games that is) for about the same price as 2 normal subs...

so thats what, 7 games for the price of 2?
