Has any1 tried defensive merc?

Cuz i was thinking some about new albsetup.

2 Mercenary 50 thrust 50 dw.
1 2h paladin (don't laugh) 44 2h 42 thrust 46 chants
1 Minstrel 50 inst 44 thrust. (autotrained) Maybe slash is better :F
1 Cleric 40 Rejuv 35 smite
1 Cleric 39 Rejuv 37 Enhance
1 Sorceror 44 mind 31 Body
1 Mercenary 50 shield 50 crush

Im not sure about the 2h pally.
But anytime stun and prolly acceptable damage might be better then offensive slam.
And about def merc. Only medium shield but too compensate vs pally and even vs armsman they have Dirty tricks.
And any1 who has been under the force of dirty tricks knows that it is very hard too dmg any1 whan u fumble 50%+ of ur hits
Suggestions, flames etc are welcomed.

Every1 roll female britons with same model/size.
The def merc will be very hard to tell from the clerics.
And noobs will have a hard time getting right target.

One problem is no MoBlock for Mercs (not really a big problem though, especially if you have 50shield).

Mercs do make good defenders with DT, but (like Reavers making good defenders with dps debuff) they tend to make more impact playing offensively.

Think most ppl have thought about the idea with using a 2handed pala, the thing is just they suck for offensive dmg.. and they are a worse guard than a warrior since their wpskill is around 900 lower.. and it wont be much better as 2handed...

But yea the idea is good, but u need a damn good player on that def merc/arms to hold the tanks away from healers cause the assist will have a harder time takin down ppl..

Maybe. It is kinda stupid of mythic not to give albs conc haste. Imo should friars get it, or a chant that gives every1 in grp 19% haste on higher lvls.

You do block more with higher ws as it's a greater chance to block when your ws > the attackers ws :O

No you bloody well don't! Look blocking is based purely on the weaponskill of the attacker (which is based on weapon spec and on a primary or combination of stats, usually str) vs. the shieldskill of the defender (based on shield spec, dex and the RA MoB if applicable).

And on the subject of paladins not blocking more than warriors... well duh, a paladin's dexterity does NOT increase with level whereas a warrior's does as it is a tertiary stat (incidentally a paladin's tertiary stat is str, which is why they hit like your wielding a wet lettuce). Also most paladins will go 42 shield for slam when most warriors will go 50 shield.

Is it really that hard to comprehend all of the above?!

Alternatively just go with 3 healers, 3 savages, a skald and a shaman. 2-3 times the damage output, 2-3 times the cc ability, ae disease and more healing than you can throw a stick at.
