To me, there is a lot of 'brainwashing' going on these days, however we live in a world where it is very easy for one voice to reach millions, and so it is to be expected. That said, brainwashing which leads to someone buying cherios is probably not as bad as brainwashing that leads to someone detonating themselves and killing dozens of others just to 'further the cause'.

What is this 'reality' which is being hidden away? I think that most people are aware of the fact that Afghanistan, Syria and a few other places are pretty shit right about now - but what makes that any more real than the society we have made for ourselves in the UK? If no one cared we wouldn't be over there... and before you say it, no, I'm not saying that is the only reason we are there, but the fact of the matter is we are making the effort to improve things in Afghanistan and right now I'd wager it's far better to be there than it is to be in Syria right now.
