The Labour PartyFrankly, who cares what the trade unions want.
The simple fact is no one knows...they may shitstorm or flourish like Norway...more probably just bumble along like the rest of us.
And Norway infrastructure has been in progress since postwar recovery with a massive focus on hydro & sustainability, Scotland might be able to pull it off but it would take 50-60 years and doubt their politicians are willing to make that kind of effort
I can't see the Scottish people wanting invest into the future, the 'leading' countries on the planet are only bothered about the now, whereas the more socialist 'dont give a shit about our pedestal on the world' countries, such as the ex-Viking nations invest in their future a lot more.
What you want, but I bet there's still alot of voters that want the world stage, but also want independence, that's why they keep banging on about still being one of the wealthiest countries in the world.I disagree, getting away from the world stage is exactly what I want.
Wat? We get 40% of our energy from renewables already, with the target of 100% by 2020.
It's fucking windy in Scotland, and the tides / waves are enormous off the west coast. The Pentland Firth is underway to harness the massive tides, from memory it'll generate power for ~45,000 homes by 2020.
Trouble is, all this renewable bollocks will destroy much of what is attractive about Scotland, the coasts and the moores
I think the offshore farm by us at Burbo bank is on course to be the biggest
if you take binoculars to the beach you can see an almost unbroken ring of turbines along the coast all the way to Angelsey
Why does he give a shit. Save the union he's finally shut everyone up, break it and he fucks off labors majority into a separate county. Win win for Cameron.A lot of talk on the radio this morning that Cameron hasn't done nearly enough to save the Union and instead continues to focus on international war mongering instead of home issues.
The UK government have been asleep at the wheel on so many things over the years, and here we are on the cusp of breaking up the UK and nothing's changed. It's easy to see why Yes voters are fatigued with Westminster politics.
The last three Labour governments in particular have all enjoyed comfortable overall majorities, which the loss of Scottish seats would not have overturned. In 1997 Labour’s majority was 178, of which only 56 were Scottish seats; in 2001 their majority was 166, of which 55 seats were Scottish; and in 2005 Labour’s majority was 65, of which 40 were Scottish seats.
Nor does Labour’s recent electoral record in England suggest that the Tories would possess an innate advantage there. In 1997, for example, Labour obtained a majority in England alone of 127; in 2001 they had a majority there of 117; and in 2005 they secured a majority of 43.[7] True, in the 2010 General Election the Conservatives won 297 seats in England, compared to 191 obtained by Labour.[8] But this was off the back of thirteen years of Labour government, and the worst recession in living memory.
Which, er, supports the Tories not really caring about Scotland either way argument?Labour are angling to get into power and they're using the referendum as a political football. Jim Murphy, Alastair Darling and now Gordon Brown are suggesting that "vote no, and vote Labour next GE, and we'll give you a lot more powers ..... but only if you vote Labour". They're in it for themselves.
Letting the country split in half and Labour getting in next election - I fail to see how that's not an epic fail by the Tory party?
Yeah, exactly, Norway has made enough money from investing the money that they make through oil to give each of their citizens £1million each..
Tis'll sorta relative though, their minimum wage is like £16 or something. If you've seen food prices in Norway you'd realise they need £1,000,000 just to buy a week's shopping.
I will never forget paying £26 for a beer and burger.
You can be such a prick sometimes, I didn't say that. If their support takes a cut it takes a cut, it's that fucking simple. Nowhere did I say that meant labour could never ever get elected again. Stick to writing your posts instead of reinterpreting mine.Read the thread, do your homework @MYstIC G
Where do you guys get the "the Scottish kept Labour in power" bollocks? Do you have any sources to back that up (like I have) or are you pulling it out of your arses?
