You need to get hold of a friend code from a subscriber so its not a normal free trial. All the codes I have come across so far have run out of uses.

Quite looking forward to playing this when I get home and what better day to start then on a Friday so I got the weekend to get stuck in. Are pvp servers full pvp? I'm making a Necromancer from what I hear mages are warriors bitches so will I get rolled over and over?

Is there much wait to get onto a high pop server at primetime? Also what servers are you guys on just to gimmie an idea of what server to start on.

I'm on Shivermere, PvP servers are still Faction VS Faction and it works well. Generally level 20+ zones are "Contested" meaning you can attack each other as you desire, and from ~35 onwards the factions begin to share main hubs, sometimes without guards (though there's always a safezone)

Never had a queue time for logging on (Shivermere is high pop), Necromancer/Warlock isn't going to get rolled often by a mage/warrior once you got the PvP soul

We've had a few guidlies moaning about their mages, but my own experience against them is that they can kncok out some damage. I'm on bloodiron and it's high pop.

Got to level 10. Its pretty good so far, certainly a looker. The UI could do with a polish though.

Dont want to upset any Rift fans but it looks like WoW but with better graphics. I've read opinions and seen videos and haven't found anything that splits it away from WoW. Yeah yeah I haven't played it but I haven't seen anything that makes me want to either.

Ill wait till a daoc clone comes out.

Can't say you're far wrong, Rift is something our group and Llaw Arian is approaching with the point of view of trying to maximise 'fun had' until something better comes along. Like most people, I can certainly say I'm playing this as a diversion while waiting for other games.

I just make videos because I really enjoy the editing side of it and it's good practice - I enjoy learning new things. Sadly the misconception from a huge amount of people is that they think it's supposed to be a WOW LOOK AT ME/THE GAME I'M/IT'S AMAZING thing, which it most certainly is not.

Rift boils down quite simply to easy PvE and limited PvP which has a lot of interesting possibilities. Sadly those possibilities aren't played out due to the complete failure by Trion to support PvP in any meaningful way. Warfronts are boring, while PvP in the open world tends to (as you can see in the video) be limited to ganking PvE'ers which, while somewhat entertaining from a basically puerile point of view, is pretty boring after a while.

If you think Rifts' pvp is better than WoW's your truly wrong. They are perhaps on par. WAR's was ahead of both.

However, the potential is there. I think I'll resub for another month, see what changes are in the pipelines. A lot of us are holding out for Trion realising the importance of PvP and pushing it as much as possible (more warfronts, open PvP zone, PvP 'endgame' etc)

Well am almost lvl 10 and almost bored to tears.

Looks like WAR and plays smoothly like WoW well apart from that erm nothing for me to really think wow this game is great.

Such a stale genre these days.

I agree, games are afraid to stamp their own unique style on mmo's anymore so they just recreate the WoW experience, in fairness tho at 25+ it is alot harsher than wow and the Rifts are ok but at times bloody annoying

Western MMOs are definitely stale, they are forced to copy wow as much as possible by the board/shareholders/investors.

It's pretty depressing.
thankfully non-western developers are not bound by the same bullshit.

Very fucking depressing to be fair people talk of KOTOR but really it looks like WoW the more i watch it.

Seriously why can't some bright spark out there recognise that DAOC was a great game and try to create something on that idea 3 sides-PVE specific zones and PVP zones.

I can't remember the last time 3 sided mmorpg was created 3 sides is just awesome imo it creates a great balance in my opinion too.
