other dude, goa still asks for plotters, and they haven't stated anywhere that they have enough. and sending plots from my country/location could be usefull aswell.

Depends if what they are dealing with is one dodgy router, or something more complicated. My gut feeling is more complicated, as the lag for me is minimal in the morning, annoying in the afternoon, and unplayable in the evening (was ok after 10pm uk time yesterday - according to ping plots).

Its bizzar you have such a lax attitude. Would you pay for electricity if it couldnt be routed to your house because a pylon was down in another country? No. Would you pay for a DVD on Amazon that couldnt be shipped to you because the postmen are on strike? No..The argument is simple. If the service dosnt work people wont pay. It dosnt matter who's fault it is its just a fact.

An odd thing is that in the company I worked for, who had lots of power cuts, and outages on leased line, I asked about SLA's, and penalty clauses and the like. Turns out that there was nothing, the company had to have insurance to cover it, because the utilities don't make such agreements.

Maybe that's all GOA can do, too. Insure against the losses of us leaving due to the poor service of the network providers they connect through.

Those examples are different to DAoC. In both your examples, the company is responsible for getting a product to you. We are responsible for making the product available not delivering it to your computer. A closer analogy would be a shop advertising a product for sale, the product is available and the store is open but you can't get to the store because there are roadworks on your way to the shop.

With regards to the lag, OT have told us they are performing a major maintenance tomorrow which they are hopeful will fix the problem. There are also some fairly extensive plans for the future which are still being hammered out to help prevent this kind of thing from happening again.

didn't somone say that opentransit were perfoming maintenance last time, and the lag would go away?

And if the lag doesn't "hopefully" go away? then what?

they did stuff last time this lag problem happened (6 months ago?) which made the lag go away for a while.

True - and in that case I wouldn't have spent any cash at all in the shop - would I??

But we DO pay for the subs + we bought the game in the first place...that's the difference and why that shop analogy is flawed imho...

On the daoc box it says: Internet connection Requierd + the tech specs of the minimum PC configuration...

It doesn't say: Internet connection from GOA to sub-contractor requierd...

According to what the boxed product requieres, I'm fulfilling all those things.

Fine..If the lag goes away everysingle one of us will be happy. I appreciate the answer Requiel, but your missing the point. Its quite simple. If we find the game unplayable, we wont play and we certainly wont pay. It dosnt matter who is responsible, we simply wont pay GOA any more money. Like it says on the box, internet connection required..well..If i didnt have one of those, i wouldnt have bought the game and expansions would i? :twak:

Dont really care whose fault it is. The net result is the game is unplayable. Bought guild wars at lunch today so will give that a try. DAOC is stilll a great game but all this lag and the low rvr population is starting to wear me down :( I just wanna have fun and man its gettin hard to do that.

Think about it... would you pay for the game if you didn't have the internet? noo.... You paying to play, not to get a leet service cos u pay some money.... If you don't like it, don't play it.. just save you QQing and stupid remarks pwez

lol was a straight forward question not difficult to understand.

We pay our subs so GOA can provide us with a game to play. They pay their hosting company a set fee for hosting/bandwidth and the rest I would imagine is profit.

We are now being told its not GOA's responcibility to provide us with access to the servers.

So again I ask why do we pay subs.

Not too difficult to understand is it.....

The only way we can be responsible for your access to the servers is if we provide a direct line from every subscribers house to our game servers. We are responsible for keeping the servers open and accessible from the internet, we aren't responsible for the internet itself.

Then you miss the point. We pay to play a game. If we cant play, through whatever reason, will we continue to pay? Like i said..Dosnt matter who's fault it is.

Requiel I was not say GOA is responsible for the internet and you know full well what I ment.

GOA pay opentransit to connect your cluster to the internet so us gimps can gain access to them.

Its all pass the buck so far as we have been saying regardless of who it is GOA or OT, we pay you and you pay them with our money.

It has already killed and chance of new blood on the servers.

It need sorting once and for all or you will no longer have our money.

Hmm ... I understand that you must feel very uncomfortable at times like these but you are a GM and really shouldnt have to answere these things ... GoA should hire some CS and PR dudes that can come up with some real analogys if needed (better yet they could work preventional and this kind of discussions didnt even have to start) ... this just makes GoA and yourself look kinda bad (as a GM though the little Ive seen and heard about you are good/very good).

could we sue GOA for causing us skin cancer if we got it from going out and not playing? (not likely here in Scotland mind you).

Worth thinking about though..

funny how all the other online games providers sort LAG out very quickly. Thinking of blizzard and sony to name a few.

You dont have a good track record tbh, more than once its been found your server farm/infrastructure was the cause of the problem.

Mythic certainly dont trust GOA to run Imperator, they going to the extent and expense of opening a european office. I pretty sure they have acknowledged the player base general feeling of contempt for your company and its third rate service time and time again. Not to mention the farce that is release day for your company every time there is an expansion pack.

I wonder how many GoA employees will find jobs at Mythic Europe datacenter ?

No.
Voluntary actions by a 3rd party or victim break the chain of causation.
