And for him it might be. Its all comparative. I dont see that statement to be a problem. He is calling a 250k second salary "chicken feed"
Although, he could be talking about the amount of work involved (though I doubt it)
Yeah. The fact that a poltician calls it chicken feed. And he knows that he's made a big boob there because he says what he really thinks. Which in and of itself is fine - but it betrays the fact that he cannot relate to the people he should be doing his damnest to represent - i.e. the average folk. His gut reaction is that of a man who's far to privileged - and that makes him unsuitable (or dangerous) to hold the highest levels of power.I'm confused. (Not the first time). I don't really see what the problem is here.

Not that he can't contribute to things effectively - but he's hampered in important ways. It's a bit like a bastardisation of the canary in a cage thing - if you grow up in a cage then you don't understand what it's like to not be in it.
Sorry, don't buy the argument; you don't have to be "of the people" to represent the people; politicians (of any political camp) very rarely are, and even if you are, there's little or no evidence that once you've joined "the political class" that you understand "ordinary" people anyway. The act of being a politician (especially at nation level) divorces you from reality by default.
Boris calling 250K chicken feed doesn't bother me in the slightest. The reality is that his £140K public salary is a sinecure anyway; if he was a CEO of a corporation with a budget like he has to run London (about £2bn) he'd be earning vastly more money.
Other than completely agreeing with your point that politicians from normal rather than privileged families are rare I disagree strongly with the rest of your argument.Sorry, don't buy the argument; you don't have to be "of the people" to represent the people; politicians (of any political camp) very rarely are, and even if you are, there's little or no evidence that once you've joined "the political class" that you understand "ordinary" people anyway. It's like your argument that I can't possibly imagine what it's like to have children. Maybe I'm wrong on that point - and if I am then you're wrong on this one - because it's essentially the same thing - an inability to understand "other" and the problems that are concomitent therein.
People of privilege will, naturally, understand the problems of those of privilege more readily than those who've grown up poor - and attach a greater emotional importance to them - because they can't help not. They're only human after all. Even Boris.
His chicken feed remark, if you don't see what the problem is with that, then that's your prerogative.
Internet Explorer will never open on my laptop so I have resorted to Google Chrome. Tried to watch the end of something on Sky Go last night and get told that GC doesnt support it, please use Internet Explorer. Tried and tried to make it work.
This morning switch on laptop and Internet Explorer opens on first go....Aaaaaargh.
It is chicken feed.
Don't be disingenuous, that's absolutely not the point.
Ewww thats gross. When you go for a shit at work and the seat is warm from the last user.
Sorry I am late replying but we can't criticise someone for being paid for doing a job? It maybe chicken feed to him as potentially he is from old money...He's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Now and again the facade slips. But lots of people love him, seemingly blindly.
Doesn't the above give you pause for thought @Yoni?
I really dont see why he is being chastised except people are jealous of his wealth.Sorry I am late replying but we can't criticise someone for being paid for doing a job? It maybe chicken feed to him as potentially he is from old money...
It really isn't any of our business what people earn privately.... Have any of you thought if he was working privately full time he quite possibly would be earning (and probably has earned) substantially more.
There is a reason he is a capitalist...

I think people are missing the point anyway, a politician is getting paid by a media group.
doesn't matter how much, it matters that he's still getting paid by them.
Yeah, is he getting paid or is he getting 'paid'.
He's getting "paid" maybe #paid#
No mate, >paved< for sure.Perhaps he should be "paved"..

People sporting these in urban city areas. Yes, the shit reaches knee-deep many times here in Stockholm (no bitterness at all...) but really, leave them for the farmers, if you're strutting in swampy areas (women in Northern England...?) or a fetishistic middle-aged gay man (like half of us on here).
