Sorry @caLLous

Tesco croissants.

They make a fresh batch in the afternoon/evening, and being a primarily breakfast item they're not bought so they sell them the next morning.

I'm fairly sure that's a criminal offence in Frenchmanland.

I remember attempting to get one in France at like 11am and they were like non, we made them at 9am, they're are only good for le trash.

I think it's the same here tbh, especially in the supermarkets and the boulangerie chains. It's all produced, all day. Not sure about selling them the next morning though, that sounds skanky.

British'll eat any old shit.

It's definitely a truism that a shitload of our eateries pump out chod that offends the sensibilities of our European friends. You can get good stuff, but it's harder to find here than abroad.

The o/h loves to eat out. I much prefer her cooking. Better ingredients.

Day 3 of waiting for the child to spawn.

Sigh.

Literally altering my work calendar daily "If I turn up there's no child, if I don't turn up I'll see you in 3 months". Makes my planning messy. If I can't do it in 7 hours I'm not doing it.

The thing is that a couple of years ago they didn't do it and they were mostly always out of stock - now they do this shit and they always seem to have plenty, they don't appear to understand why.

Bit of both @Deebs - it's cheaper and if it's better at home too then it's a no-brainer.

I really resent eating out at restaurants that serve shitter than I get at home. What's the point of them? In blighty at least that's the majority of them.

Cannot remember the last time I was in a restaurant. Like you prefer home cooking/BBQs.

Why dya think they should be raising them again @MYstIC G?

I love the 20mph. After a couple of months it felt normal, and it's much nicer to walk around places with slower moving traffic. (And if the accident stats are to be believed, significantly safer too.)

Really, it's the fact that it's quieter on the roads - less tyre noise. And people and cars act differently - pedestrians act in a much more confident manner and aren't cowed by the traffic any more. It's transformed the places I frequent as a pedestrian around here in a subtle but really important way.
