The PS3 was mis-sold imo. It should have been touted as a "does all" high definition media hub that also plays the latest games.
Was it? When PS3 was first announced imho that's exactly how it was described, basically "it does EVERYTHING". Then slowly but surely it got watered down like the pint at your local. TV recording got chopped out, then TV got chopped out all together (granted there's now PlayTV), then backwards compatibility went out the window, etc, etc.

They kept the price tag and dumped a rake of features and that killed off the PS3 for me (i.e. pre-launch). Personally I won't touch one until we get the slimline re-package which they'll probably call PSthre3 or something equally shit.

pc is prolly at the end. look at the world of goo, nice cheap game with 90% piracy level

The PC will always be there, with the first to do everything, granted there is alot of piracy, but people still make money. Because of this companies are changing the way games are sold either through a system like Steam or the horrible secru-rom thing or games are beginning to be released for free or no DRM and you have to have an orginal copy or pay for updates etc.

Also you can see that ingame advertising is on the increase, to make up the revenue lost to piracy and to make more money.

well thing about the pc is apart from a few core games, crysis, wow everyone else is going multiplatform even id are. instead of out sourcing consoles ports they are doing all 3 pc,ps3 and 360 versions in house. the days when games are primarily made for pc are pretty much over but we wont get many games making full use of the tech

still not gonna stop me from upgrading my pc tho:D

Well look at Mass Effect. It was made for a console but it really struggled to run at 30 fps. I got it on PC and ran it at a higher resolution, completely superior image quality at a rock steady 60 fps. Same thing for Gears of War (although good hardware doesn't help awful art).

You've got one of the original builds or have they added backwards compatibility for all PS3's yet?

Nah - got a second hand old one. To me playing PS2 games is more important than PS3 :)

90% of everything is pirated, music, movies, clothes, art etc, the 10% of legitimate purchases they still make good money on.

Goo is shit, and also similar to an xbla competition entry, even so, if people don't buy it don't blame piracy blame shitness.

US software sales. PS3 == dead last.

Personally I use mine all the time but for downloaded games and PS2 games only :)

If PS3 was somehow ahead of the 360, wouldn't it be a miracle anyway? How much of a headstart did the 360 have? Microsoft would have had to fail in the most epic of ways to sell less software after releasing a year earlier.

Sure, but if you look at the line the XBox sales are still going up faster than PS3. PS3 isn't catching.

Why would it? There are less PS3s in America than 360s, we've known that for ages. If PS3 was selling software faster than the 360, again, Microsoft would need to be doing something severely wrong.

As I said before, look at the PAL charts instead. Other than the UK, PS3 games are charting well above the 360 versions. You can spin every story both ways...

I'm still not getting this thread; so basically what is everyone getting that, that if you bought a PS3 you've got a smaller ePenis and bad breath? What's the problem?

He'll try and argue it's true G, in the face of all common sense and evidence to the contrary. Cause Uncle Bill told him to.

No problem. It's just a bit of a turnaround for Playstation to go from undisputed number 1 last 2 gens to 3rd place this gen.

Nintendo also had quite a downer with the N64 and then the Gamecube. Competition like this is healthy.

If it means Sony will make a few better decisions next gen, anyone willing to buy a Sony console is better off for it. If they had dominated with a £425 console, next gen we'd see a £500 console!

Yes, whenever I speak to people about consoles they typically say "PS3 was too expensive" and I have to agree that it was.

Is it still too expensive? For a console, maybe. But to reiterate, I never bought it for a console but as a blu-ray playing media hub. In that context, it's a fucking bargain.

Just gonna throw in our experience.

I don't geberally play console games now, so the views of a 19 and 10 yo here. We have a wii, xbbox 360 and PS3. I asked the lads excluding older PS games you can play, which console do yoiu play the most games on?' and the answer from both was immediately the PS3.

Ok, they don't buy the consoles around here, but they do pay for hiring or buying their own games, so that's still a valid persepctive.

I think views on this forum might be a bit biased towards online gaming or maybe games for slightly older players, perhaps.
