Not entirely, obviously it's a well reviewed game but a games "goodness" is entirely subjective. Perhaps I've just been spoiled by the likes of GTR/GTR2, though even Grid and PGR3/4 felt like much more solid racers than Forza 3.

Judging by some of the rumblings coming out of Polyphony GT5 might be out sooner than you think.

Just spoke to a friend who works in game retail, the info he was given suggests anywhere up to a 30% reduction in decibels. Some 360 models could hit 44db under full load so 30% off that would put it at 31db which is pretty damn good for full load. I have 26db fans in my case I cannot hear them at all. If the new 360 gets near those figures I will definately trade mine in for a new one.

the only thing is noise and breakage my current elite is the one 360 that has lasted me the longest.

and having read the fact natal wont need its own psu with this new one makes it all the worth while for me,

PS3's are known for being very quiet. They can get loud when they're really hot, though.

None of the consoles are known for being "very quiet" so stop talking pish. Now if you were saying "in comparison to a 360" then you'd be correct. The new 360 is a worrying sign for Microsoft. In all honesty is says to me "next xbox not ready yet, come back in 2012/2013" especially with the parties that were heavily involved with the xbox project leaving microsoft campus.

Both Sony and Nintendo have done redesigns for their consoles in the past, not reading too much into this meself. Heck, if it runs cooler also due to rearranging the components surely that's a good thing too.

It does look as though they've put in some effort to improve it, not just a quick hack job to bung the hardware into a smaller case.

That is fair, mine is whisper quiet most of the time and only gets really loud after a good hour of gaming. Sony did a damn good job in that regard. Shame it has taken 4.5 years for Microsoft to figure out that for $1 more you can buy much much better fans than shift more air with less noise.

St^ is right, you are trolling meg. The ps3 is known for being ultra quiet unless it is extremely stressed. Many people hear have commented on this, and it's why it's considered such a good media centre. It is quieter than the V+ box I had for example.

I own both, as do many here, and I frequent various AV forums where the quietness of the ps3 is fact. You found one link about a few problem consoles, unlike with xbox's, this is not the majority.

All I am saying is that they're not "ultra quiet" if they were, it'd be a point worth advertising when you were trying to sell the damn things and additionally that 360's are more noisy than PS3's.
