If they managed to drop the decibels by 30% it will be as quiet as any PS3, fingers crossed.

Is that with your games installed to the hard drive? Sure its loud when you don't install but installed its not loud at all.

Anyway I've preordered one my birthday soon so that's my present lol
I'm mainly asking about the sound for when I play DVD's with it, in quite a small room I've got to turn the volume up quite high just to hear what's happening. Also I'm still using my 20gb Premium console from forever ago, so I've got no games installed on it currently.

The disc drive on the 360 is still the biggest noise making component, so yes if using DVD's, the ps3 will be quieter.

I heard there is a re-make of Goldeneye coming out on the Wii. I may well just have to allow the wife to buy a Wii now.

I saw this too and tbh i shudder at the thought of it going on the Wii in fact it will probably destroy the games reputation.

Tacky Wiimote targeting comes to mind for a start.

I'm using a 20gb too - I don't see why I should spend a money on a new one tbh :)

There's a difference between the noice level though. I've had 4 xboxes, and this one is definately more silent than the rest I've had - even though it's the same hardware.

Hmmmm. So MS have decided to release an update of their console, in gloss black, that is slimmer and quieter than their previous console.

OH I WONDER WHERE THEY GOT THAT IDEA FROM?

MS also announce motion sensitive games, involving fitness and dancing.

OH I WONDER WHERE THEY GOT THAT IDEA FROM?

Seriously lads, have an original fucking idea for once in your useless fucking lives. The only people who are going to swallow the X360 Slim are the ones who are fed up with their big white ones going titsup.

MS' attempt at a games console is a joke frankly. No decent exclusives whatsoever (if it's on PC, it isn't exclusive), shit hardware and a habit of charging you for stuff that should be free.

Im undecided on this.

Nothing will EVER come close to the times I had with the lads playing goldeneye and mario kart on the n64. Id hate to ruin those memories.

Yes, same. It was the whole experience, the controllers made playing the game unique.

I think a lot of todays gamers who are like "lols lets get on xbox live", miss the whole experience of playing together at someones house. Sure, back then your screen space was limited but it was such a laugh and it never bothered you.

I wouldn't mind a remake of Lylat Wars, that would work over xbox live and the like.

Best laugh I ever had was playing Quakeworld Headhunters mod with a bunch of my clanmates at a mate's house. It was a BNC network but there were only 4 of us and I've never laughed so much while gaming in my life. :)

MS' attempt at a games console is a joke frankly.

40 million customers disagree and it will be 50 million by year end. ;)

Oh and Sony are going to start doing timed releases on demos soon. No pay? Wait a week for your demo.

They didn't say that at all.

Didn't they?

Among the new options - which will be available in 30-day (Japan and Asia only), 90-day (North America and Europe only) or full-year increments - will be a variety of special offers, including early access to some demos and beta trials.

That was given to gamesindustry.biz who are highly reputable. Early access to some demos looks exactly like XBL's gold and silver accounts.

I watched the conference and they didn't say it, nor does it say that on their US blog post detailing it.

I watched the conference and they didn't say it, nor does it say that on their US blog post detailing it.

Here is the full article incase you couldn't view the link. Would be suprised if they are wrong but it happens I guess.

PlayStation 3 owners will soon have access to a raft of additional online options when a new subscription service - PlayStation Plus - is launched for the PlayStation Network at the end of this month.

As part of this year's E3 press briefing, Sony Computer Entertainment outlined in more detail its plans to offer additional functionality for a fee - although the company stressed that all existing elements, including multi-player gaming, would remain free of charge.

Among the new options - which will be available in 30-day (Japan and Asia only), 90-day (North America and Europe only) or full-year increments - will be a variety of special offers, including early access to some demos and beta trials.

Users will also be able to unlock full access to certain PS3 downloadable and PSN titles - including PSone archives and Minis - and play them for as long as their membership is valid; while other designated games will be playable for a certain amount of time on a trial basis, before needing to be purchased online.

But one of the more interesting concepts announced involved the option to schedule your console to switch on and automatically download demos, patches or updates at certain times.

The company also announced the membership numbers to its PlayStation Network had now surpassed the 50 million level, across 58 countries - making it the "most connected" console on the market, according to SCEA VP of marketing, Peter Dille.

PlayStation Plus will be priced as follows:

* 30 days: ¥500 / HK$38
* 90 days: $17.99 / €14.99
* 365 days: ¥5000 / HK$233 / $49.99 / €49.99

I still play GRAW2 4 player splitscreen, nothing quite matches up to it. The only online experience that has reached that level of fun was when my clan took over an entire TF2 server and just spent the time mucking about. Their was one random and he got into the spirit of things and messed around with us having fun, we left the teamspeak channels open so there wasn't a separate channel for each side, still one of my fav gaming moments.

As for the PS3 news, Thats a bloody brilliant idea, I wouldn't mind staying GOLD with xbox if they allowed Full access to all Arcade and Xbox 1 titles for the yearly price. If I could plug my 360 controller into a PS3 I would buy one (I dont like the PS3 controllers give me hand cramps after a hour)

It's not all titles plightstar, it says selected titles.

The cost they are touting does not justify the service, given that gaming is already free.
