Dunno about full damage modelling, but tbh I'd rather it had zero damage. This is Gran Turismo, not fucking Destruction Derby. Although I would like a new Destruction Derby. Just not in my Gran Turismo.

A realistic simulation is what they call GT5 right? no damage? bent.

They call it a driving simulator, not a crashing simulator.

A driving simulator without realistic crashing?

Come on....

What console game ever had realistic crashing? PC sims don't do the visual stuff realistically either

Driver 3 has pretty realistic crash physics, true it wasn't perfect, but it did the job.

What we're actually discussing is the damage caused by a crash, not so much the physics of a crash itself (although this has been improved a lot in GT5). People want deformation, bodywork falling off, etc.

It makes it more realistic, especially if losing a wing affected the aerodynamics/weight distribution of the car for instance (I am not sure if that is the case in GT or not) I personally think that real car damage will add a lot to the game, it will punish you for making mistakes and make taking risks actually a risk. Brake that extra little bit late to take someone on a corner.

There are enough dreary arcade racers these days, to shine GT needs to bring something new to the table, which I am sure it will. If/when etc

Oh I see, kind of like the old Colin Mcrae series (before Dirt) where you had bits falling off or dragged alongside your car affecting performance, such as not being able to turn right because of damage to the steering column and right hand suspension. They had a similar system in Forza 2 but didnt work as well, usually ended up with you just driving slower and making corning a bit of a gamble as you were more likely to spin out

Well not sure about Forza 2, but in Forza 3 I've seen 200mph crashes that just resulted in a missing bumper and some scuffed paintwork. In the real world, you would do more damage driving into a wall at just 30mph.

If damage becomes realistic, it would be too easy to total your car and ruin a whole race instead of just one lap. Remember that GT is the biggest mass-market racing game there is. They can't go too heavy on the simulation aspect or it'll become just as niche as iRacing and rFactor style sims.

GT5 is a joke anyway tbh it's been in development for so long only the Sony Fanbois give a shit about it, it will be delayed yet again.

Always the hypocrite. You still cared enough about Alan Wake to buy it.

I never really followed Alan Wake at all until about 2 weeks up to its release.

Strictly speaking, that doesn't mean he was following it that entire time, just that he found out that it had been in the works for that long.

Yeah, the post you quoted was made two weeks before release to be fair to him. I also went searching for evidence to call his bluff, but for once he wasn't bullshitting.

You don't phrase it that way for a random game you're going to buy though, imo at least.

Well it wasn't a random game if i said it 2 weeks before it released was it? and in that 2 weeks i read a lot about it, random game is one you buy when you know nothing about it, read no reviews etc. Your so fucking arsey it's sad.

Back on topic does GT5 even have a release date? i did a search on game.co.uk and they have no release date.

It doesn't have a release date, which makes your statement about it being "delayed yet again" just as ridiculous as the rest of your post.

Not as ridiculous as this post lol so it went from spring this year to a void of uncertainty? Makes you wonder what an earth could be wrong with it.

Was talking to a nintendo rep today who claims nintendo are going to move away from the party type games for the wii and move into more serious gaming.

Read a rumour on the Grauniad that the Nintendo 3DS (new portable) is going to have graphics power approaching that of a 360/PS3... I find that a little hard to believe but it suggests their new handheld will have focus on power rather than inventive interface.

Either way GT5 has one hell of a job against Forza3

Yup got to agree, you need more than that to bash him on Alan Wake.
