I really don't see the hype over Young, he'll never be a big 4 player, fact.

Ireland on the other hand does have bags of potential, the massive jump up from the player he was last season to the one he is now shows that, i'd rather him in my team then Young thats a fact.

I'm not saying its wrong but i have a feeling the players voted for Giggs as he has had a good season and its coing to the end of his time at the top. So i think he got this more for a great 10 years not a great year?

I think it's players looking at and seeing that he's still on top of his game (as he has been inspirational for United this season), at such as old age. Something to aspire to i'm guessing.

I don't agree. Ireland has played his socks off and his team has simply been 'okay'. Ashley Young was brilliant at the time the voting took place and won games on his own, lifting his whole team.

Four player of the month awards in a calendar year is a record I think you'll find.

Ireland is good, but he isn't even potentially world class. Ashley Young is.

Missed this, you have to be kidding right? Ireland is not world class? What he has done at his age, considering the inconsistency all around him is amazing. Man shitty have a bright future if they can hold on to him, he is very creative and pops up to score from everywhere. Like Everz said, I would rather have Ireland than Young in any team. No doubt Young is very good, but ireland gives you more options.

He's just blinded by his blue and claret glasses at the moment. They all worship Young as if he's the second coming, when in all honesty he's far from great and goes hugely absent in the big matches.

Ireland has been the one shining beacon in Man City's season, dragged them to where they are atm tbh, the fact he hasn't won PFA Young Player of the Year is a joke.

Thats almost a big of a joke as Torres being in the team of the year.

well

apart from injury his goal to game ratio has been fantastic again, another 18 goals in all competitions despite being out for about half the season,

and u can't say he doesnt deserve it as he hasnt played enough, cos well...... giggs

also Ngog was clearly a joke, as he is fucking useless,

personaly i think torres is the best striker in the prem atm, (i would) but then man u have 5 better than our second string striker (not including ronaldo)

thats just retarded for a team with title ambitions

didnt include kuyt as a striker as he plays midfiled more often now

Idd.

Liverpools player of the year should be between Kuyt/Alonso/Gerrard imo, all of them have been on the top of there game this year, probably the main reason who you are where you are.

Alonso has been phenominal, makes me wonder is rafa was really tryna sell him to juve or just give him a massive kick up the arse

Gerrard is just well gerrard

kuyts goals have improved but his overall play is the same, very underated player

Am i right in thinking that EVerton are guaranteed Europa cup football next season regardless of league position, because Chelsea are in the champs league?

hmm, cant remember how it works now, thinking it may have been changed so that if cup winner already qualified it goes to the next person in the league, but im probably wrong. lol

No doubt Young is very good, but ireland gives you more options.

Hold up, you were arguing that the fans have no right to criticise the players for picking Giggs as it is a player chosen award, then you go and criticise the players for choosing Ashley Young? is young player of the season not chosen by players then? Or do different rules apply for non Man United players?

Ashley is very effective at left wing but can also play right wing, in the hole and as a striker. I think you will struggle to see a more effective and hardworking genuine winger in the Premier League.

He has his problems, admittedly. He is very sleight and goes over very easily. Opposition fans deem this to be cheating ... yet he doesn't perform half the histrionics that many players do these days, and has genuine reason for going over easily. He is about 7 stone wet through.

His main problem is how variable his delivery can be. But on his day there is not a better left winger in the Premier League.

EDIT: To be picked in two team of the seasons in consecutive seasons is quite remarkable. If you can't see that, well, I hope your various right backs are so casual about him next time we play you.

I think Theo is a better young player than young how much he has come on this year while missing so much football is awesome imo.

Ireland>Young. fact

opinion, not fact.

Ireland is a better box to box midfielder going through the middle imo. He does "ok" in other roles and is a very strong player. Makes some great runs into the box to create space for himself or other players and has a decent shot on him. Range of Passing is quite good. Shines in "poor" team (nota poor team but they been very inconsistant with alot of poor performances)

Young, very good winger. Has the speed and skill to take on defenders and has a decent cross, shot, freekick and pass on him. Has good vision but lacks the passing ability currently to pull off the more difficult passes though.
Also has good ability upfront but feel he is wasted. Is a brilliant offensive player for any team that would like to play on the counter attacking football because he has both the speed and ability to take chances. Can be inconsistant and disappear by his standards and needs to learn to control his temper when things not going his way (ie the two footed lunges)

Really it comes down to the type of player you favour. I like a winger like ronaldo over a midfielder like lampard, which probably why i tend to go over on youngs side for this arguement.

And yes. The PFA young player of the year is voted on by the players.

I agree with most of those opinions, mine is obviously tinted in that i have to put up with Villa fans constantly.. oh how much joy i've took in them bottling 4th place :D.. Roll on next season.

Roll on next season.

The one where you kindly donate six points to the Villa cause, McCarthy gets sacked (again) and you get relegated? :m00:

In all seriousness I have plenty of Wolves fans as friends and clients, will be good to have the old gold back in the big time (for 2009/10 anyway).

We'll stay up without a doubt, maybe take Wafa a bit serious this time though eh ;D?

Turamber stop trying to pick arguments where there are none, your posts in the sunny days thread and this lately stink of trolling.

I said I think, as in my opinion, that Ireland is better than Young. Not because Young is not a great player, but because I feel Ireland gives you more options in any team. Re-read my post and arguing for the sake of it.

I did not criticise the decision to award Young, he has had a great season and thats been recognised by his fellow professionals. I do not think the writers award will go to him though.

According to the BBC you are now in the cup next year.

The Toffees want to get their man back in action as soon as possible, however, after their place in the inaugural Europa Cup was confirmed for next season when Cup final opponents Chelsea guaranteed their own place in the Champions League.
