LOL chodax, he is insists they still have a great chance, although his tone of voice and body language says otherwise. To be fair, apart from the Liverpool game, their run in has more potential points than the other relegation candidates.

Probably that most players are pigshit thick and don't really know much about football..

Remember Zidane saying Gerrard was like Makelele. :D

Hmm, he said Real Madrid wouldn't have won all the trophies without Makelele just like Gerrard is gonna bring trophies to Liverpool? I don't think he really compared them as players? :p

When I was watching the Arsenal-Chelsea semi final, the commentators said that Everton would be guaranteed European football if they got through to the final, as Chelsea had secured a top 4 finish.

Way I understand it is - top 4 champs league, 5th and 6th Europa, FA cup winner/ finalist Europa. As Everton will finish at least 6th and be in the FA cup final, then the extra spot goes to 7th in the league.

edit:

finally found a note on uefa.com

• The losing finalist for the domestic cup competition will still be entitled to be entered for the UEFA Europa League should the domestic cup winners qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Might be some confusion in the press as Platini wants it to change so top 3 get Champs league and FA Cup gets the 4th spot?

The Europa League looks even worse than the UEFA cup -- it is half a Premier League season in length if you go all the way!

Yeah it will hit Everton, Villa and looks like Fulham hard if they are in it to win it next season. With their squads as they are, I do not see them maintaining any kind of other cup challenge, or pushing for a high league spot if they try and win the Europa cup.

I still say that it a decision that could clearly be given as a penalty every day of the week. They are given if it a player on player but the double standards involving goalkeeper is what makes refs say no. Just like everytime a player jumps next to a goalkeeper it seems to be a freekick :p

Such decisions are given every week or two, which is why I said it was a penalty. If it good on them occasions it good enough when it happens on other occassions. And even if he doesnt think it is now, all that does is make up for the clear cut penalty that resulted in a 0-0 semi final :D

(p.s. I did say i think he didnt see the ball changing direction and the reason behind his decision - at least i think i said it on this forum and not another one. )

Matters not, points in the bag and we did score 4 other goals. ;) You take a win wherever you can get them.

aye and hopefully get one tonight. Think we need a 2 goal advantage to take to Emirates, especially if Arsenal do manage to get a goal.

Would say the lineup should be:
VDS
rafael
Vidic
Rio
Evra
Ronaldo
Anderson
Scholes
Rooney (left wing)
Berbatov
Tevez

With this in place, i think we got the players that can chase arsenal around all day.

Anderson = only central midfielder with the work rate, stamina and ability to break up play constantly.

Rooney providing the extra cover on walcott will be important as only midfielder that i rate as the ability defensively with work rate is park and we lose offensive side with him.

Tevez turned the spurs game upside down and deserves to be in the team from the start.

Scholes is interchangable with carrick or giggs. Either of them with anderson should work out ok.

Rafael the weakest link in that team but not like we got much full fit choice, and i have faith in him.

Do i think this be the team? not really. Fergi may go more european style and have:

vds, rafael, vidic, rio, evra, ronaldo, carrick, anderson, rooney, giggs, Berbatov.... which leaves Tevez on the bench whihc is just wrong wrong wrong.

against Arse I would prefer Tevez over Berba, holding the ball is all well and good against a strong defense, but against the makeshift defence arse are forced into, Tevez will run them ragged.

Almunia
Sagna Kolo Johan Gibbs (or Eboue Kolo Johan Sagna if Gibbs and Silvestre miss out)
Song Denilson
Theo Cesc Nasri
Ade

BBC SPORT | Football | Europe | Serie A to form breakaway league

Wow, Italian clubs are short sighted. Italian football is short of cash, especially at the lower end, sow hat do the big clubs do? Break away from Serie B. I do not see who this will work, the Premier League breakaway worked because we had a strong 3 tiers of football beneath. Italian football is going to suffer hugely because of this.

One of the best creative midfielders is retiring at the end of the season - Tugay is finally giving up at 38.

I love Turkish players (nearly as much as I love Turkish women, mmmm). Alpay was fantastic at the Villa and Tugay was a real star. Will be sorry to see him go.

In other news -- could Villa get their first three points for three months when the mighty Tigers arrive on Monday night? Oh please, please, please I hope so.

I wonder if they will be singing possibly the worst football chant EVAH? :D

Gotta love the hand motions

I think they have enough points to stay up in all honesty. My money is on us relegating Newcastle United on the last home game of the season. It will be like Coventry all over again :flame:
