gah another day wasted because iv'e been leaft in the dark, the headstart and release is soon ... they can't be doing this when the game is live.

everything should be smoothing out for the game around now.

Better now than Sunday tho? The patch is full of little fixes that people will want for retail but they wisely chose to put it out early in case of this.

People keep saying this better now then Sunday thing but come on we all know what is going to happen Sunday when they give the exact time people will be able to input their instead codes don't we?

You're looking at this all wrong. You simply have to figure out how GoA perceive time.

Example:
We will be bringing down all open beta servers to apply patch 4.1.1 at 3pm CET today. We expect this operation to take approximately one hour and we will be sure to let you know when the servers are available once more.
One hour in GoA time equates to 6-10 hours our time.

As you will have noticed the open beta servers are still down following the patch operation. Our technicians are working on the issue and we expect to be able to reopen them shortly.

Shortly: In our time shortly usually equates to a few mins. But generally not more than an hour. In GoA time this means, Anytime within the next 24-48 hours.

You just have to be able to tell GoA time. So the servers should be back up on Teusd.....See ya for the launch :p

I'lll go out on a limb here and speak up for GOA.

I have to admire their consistency.

They mean to end the Open Beta the way they started it.

Oh yeah - I remember GOA time from DAoC days.
Another nice indicator that the company have changed nothing despite the lofty words.

When its a patch issue like this and both sets of servers get patched about the same time presumably Mythic are the ones to watch as they'll be fixing it - all GOA can do is wait and echo whatever news Mythic gives em?

You are suggesting GoA are nothing more than Mythic clones unable to think for themselves.

only bad thing about this as far as i can tell is that if mythic patches in the morning, that means that GOA patches in the afternoon and if something goes wrong EU players might be more affected by the downtime than US users for who this happens during the morning while noone is online.

mythic better do their patches in the future at 1 o clock in the morning EST otherwise every patch with even only the slightest delay will have the wolves bark at GOA more than they bark at mythic for the same issue.

Not really but this isnt a problem in the bit GOA look after but rather in the code from mythic.

Blame Mythic folks, this patch was a bumpy ride on their servers from the looks of things, and GOA are clearly not havign an easy time with it either.

Shit happens, better now than Sunday :)

well there CEO wouldnt get annoying phone calls from mark jacobs asking why they suck so bad and cant even apply a patch that has already been tested by mythic.

you would think if anything mythic beeing the guinea pigs that GOA would have a nice and easy patch to apply without any issues.

the US servers were down for 10 hours , lets see how long GOA take

Would these be the same wolves that demanded GOA patch at the same time as Mythic? :p

i guess people at GOA are not allowed (by mythic) to say `sorry, we are clueless when mythic will have this shit sorted out and we can`t give a realistic ETA`.

i would rather have the patch 18 hours later than when mythic does their patch tbh. having GOA patch at 8 o clock in the morning is a better idea than at 3 o clock in the afternoon imho.

I need to agree with Rynnor..

Mythic are developers

GoA are hosters....

I doubt they have the knowledge to actually fix real code errors..

I hope I am wrong however.

Gotta love the fact that they use subjective terms such as "shortly". Wonder how they define shortly. In my definition shortly is 5 to possibly 30 minutes. Apparently my definition and theirs differ =)

Anyone really comparing them?

I would more compare Goa DAOC hosting with Goa WAR hosting, now thats a good compare.
