I wish (work):(

Home i get 24/1.4 as i'm right next to the exchange. This also means I can't get Fibre as i'm to close to the exchange or have a direct cable into the exchange or some crap. Highly annoying :(

My shitty adsl connection, however it's fine for my needs.

Considering ditching sky and switching back to Virgin at some point soon to save on the household bills though.

We will be trying a new test from another of our transit providers soon....

I'm sure there are valid business reasons but it's mainly to make people jealous on the interweb.

Had a conversation with BT today. Turns out although my line shows up in a number of places as direct...its not. The cabinet is embded in a wall of the building so only the doors show, when it was classified everyone was put down as direct.

So mid June for me :D and as I get a perfect 1.4/24 DSL sync should get perfect 20/80 \o/

Indeed, this is something i've been pondering. The rollout of decent upstream services means streaming services are going to become massively more populated, signal to noise ratio is going to be shit.

That said, i wastched someone raid in Rift the other day, the raid was shit, but his family walking around behind him was hilarious.

That's what CDNs are for. And there's none of that net neutrality nonsense over here.

What?

I think you miss understand me. I mean more people are going to be streaming. And the law of averages means most of them will be crap. So the ratio of signal (good) and noise (bad) streamers will be high.

Not bandwidth n stuff, well except local upstream ofc. Looking through twitch.tv on any given night, 99% of the streams are people playing one game with music blaring, no discussions or talking going on at all....kinda boring, also terrible music choices.

Oh, you mean individuals streaming. Yeah, sucks, but even then it can be sorted out if it made economic sense for the publisher (e.g. Activision).

330/20 would do me my upload speed has never been an issue for me but all that download would be great.

So they'll sell 330/20 for £25/month to your ISP, compared to £7 for 40/2 or £10 for 80/20.

Not too bad, but it was always the installation charges that were likely to be the real hurdle for this one

Be interesting to see what Virgin do in response once it launches.

Nothing. The stories of £50k installation quotes will do the job for them.

What's with the crappy 20Mbit upload with the 330Mbit download?

The latest generation of Internet services (cloud storage/backup) depend on improved upload. Are we going to have to wait for BT to do yet more upgrades before symmetric FTTP becomes standard?
