Well one would suspect that the vast majority of that 20% is made up of people who, like my parents for instance, want the internet to check e-mails and maybe read the BBC news in the morning and little more. I think you can get 1mb ADSL for something like £5 per month - why pay for more if you don't need it?

Similarly to Raven, I currently live in the sticks and went from 50mb cable at my old house to 5mb ADSL at my new house. It sucks.

In the Netherlands you can get up to 250Mb for private use. That will include television and phone for "just" around €110 a month. Think that's the max atm.

Everyone was getting moved from 40/10 to 80/20 anyway, you could have gone anywhere reselling FTTC and got the same.
