Been with BT for over 10 yrs, I did get Virgin for my business phone and had nothing but trouble from them

I have heard good and bad about BT and Virgin, but i'm happy with BT so if it ain't broke.......

FTTC in my area should have been 01/06/2012. Now I need to get rid of Sky as they are piss taking cunts but I do not want anything with a contract so that I can jump to FTTC if it shows up.

Virgin coverage isn't great either - most places don't have access to it.
If I had access to it I'd be on it - but they stopped ~300m away from my house - bastards.

You can get 120mb down 12m up with Virgin Media.. better download but worse upload.. I'd prefer Infinity.. but really only a very very small amount of people need 16upload.

I have had this a few times downloading torrents, I'm on 50mb at the moment.

They traffic shape certain ports like Newsgroups and Peer to Peer but they don't seem to cap the speed after a lot has been downloaded.

Distance from the exchange doesn't matter with fibre, it's only distance to the cabinet that matters now and that's about 100m from the door

I've never lived anywhere that Virgin have any service, ever. Not in Southampton, not in Birmingham, not in Bucks

I am being told that I live too close to an Exchange (so go direct rather than to a cabinet) to get FTTC one guy at BT has said if enough people at my Exchange register interest they may upgrade the Exchange but there is no way of knowing if or when. The last two times I have been told that Exchanges are upgraded first so I will get FTTC when the Exchange is activated the second told me as I go directly to the Exchange I will never have FTTC or a similar level product. It sucks.
