WTF

i just got this email from sprint

"From the router sl-gw10-par, I'm able to successfully hand it off to NTL
with no problem. Is it possible for you to send us a traceroute in all
text of what you are seeing in terms of the packet loss. Thanks!"

i thought they would realise that big red line means packet loss the dumb fucks.

its gone in a big circle again

Dear Tris,

We are able to see packet loss when we trace to your destination ip
----------- from our sl-gw10-par router. The traceroutes indicate that
the packet loss is occuring within NTL Internet's network:

sl-gw10-par#ping

Yeah i'm in Yarm (Teesside) on NTL 600k broadband and i get constant lag and packet loss with frequent ld's.

Luckily i've got a crap load of uni ICA's to be getting on with so hopefully it'll be fixed when i've got some free time to actually play.

I haven't got enough time me to list all the difficulties I've had with NTL, one of the best has to been arguing with a so called technical assistant over the supplier of a driver of a network card that wouldn't connect, after 3 hours and numerous phone calls I discover they had actually enabled the next door nieghbours Broadband and not the one I was working on

Anyone rung the NTL number yet? I'm at work so not got me info at hand :/

Darned proxy server I'm going through won't even display my Traceroute charts on previous pages, apparently my homepage is classed as Political Content

LMAO

Stuff load of DAOC screenies very political I'm sure.

Same in Germany ....

not from the UK, but got the same ld problem every few mins since yesterday (as have lots of Germans, just checked their forums) - totally unplayable .
Used pingplotter and spoke to my isp.

Seems in the German case, it's the transit server from German isp to France Telekom that's fucked, for a start. However, as all the routings are just as bad in susequent transits (Opentransit) with 50+% packet loss, I would say, it's mainly a French problem really, no idea how to solve it, but it's not only Brits being affected, I would bet everyone accessing Wannadoo is ... (ok, I know some ppl can play, but no idea how they are routed :( )

(oh, and PS: not only Opentransit is affected, some other routes too (as discussed on the German forums) ).

I read in a post on the Technical Help forum that GOA reckon its a problem with all English servers, so I checked it out by logging onto one of the French servers and the theory holds true, wasn't lagging at all there as far as I could tell in the 5 mins I was online, but I didnt understand half of the stuff that was filling my screen so I logged sharpish and tried to scrub my brain with a scouring pad ;)

for some reason i phoned customer service, what a fuckin joke. they fobbed me off with a lot of complette bull shit. i told them at 2 seperate companies have both said the problem is in NTLs network but NTL say they are lieing to shut me up. so NTL said they wont do jack shit about the problem unless more people phone up from the same area and even then it is likely they wont do anything. i said "i can tell you the same of your router thats causing the problems" he said "so, what is that gonna prove?"

i hope someone more persuasive than me will phone up and tell them what the fuck is wrong.

I need to go out this afternoon but when I get back I’m going to try a new approach with NTL.
No mention of DAOC just going to tell them I have a problem getting to the site camelot-europe.goa.com.
This is simple web browsing and no way they should be able to duck the issue.

i just told them the IP of the website, he said "its not an IP in our network so its not our prob" i explained "but its when the info is coming back through YOUR network, there is packetloss"

"but its not an IP in our network"

I called NTL and after some discussion they have passed it to their fault management group for further investigation. Whether they do this remains to be seen. They did confirm that they had only 1 email regarding this and one other phone call so people need to start ringing NTL on 0845 650 0121 and reporting this . It will raise the urgency. If anyone is going to email them then include the link for this thread and show them what bad publicity they are getting. Might also be posting on the NTHELLWORLD web site forum.
I would suggest next step if they wont do anything is to contact a gaming magazine like pczone. I did this before regarding some shoddy customer service about 2 years ago and an article was printed. Within days of the magazine published i had an ntl service manager at my door asking me what they can do to help and improve the service..

Ring NTL everyone who has a problem, and keep this post bumped. Im sure other people who are not affected will sympathise and not mind post bumps.

Oh by the way if one of them at NTL customer support mentions that there supervisor plays daoc and says he can connect fine its cos hes not on a 1meg/600k line so dont let that fob u off.

someone has sent all my info with tracerts etc to admin centre who are gonna check it them selves but if nothing can be done, then they need a lot of people to complain to sort it out.

I've just had an ntl engineer on the phone, says he will look at this forum and do some tests.

He says the traces I sent points to the opentransit routers, but I pointed out that it seems to be only affecting ntl users from a similar area (Teesside etc.).

He agreed that is odd, but at least he is gunna check into it further - Fingers Crossed.

T

glad you spoke to a proper engineer, they seen pretty rare at NTL but at least 2 of us have people doing tests now.
