Just back from a very long lunch. We've been seeing a lot of each other, but she's not wanted to take the next step. I think, basically, she's scared. Anyway, so today she tells me she's basically on board, but she wants to not see me for a few days so she can be absolutely sure. We live together, so this is more difficult than it sounds. So, I'm scarpering for half of next week to leave her to her deliberations. She gets all shy when we talk about this stuff, which I think is a good sign.

It's not like they don't know each other. They've been living in the same gaff for a couple of years and enjoy each other's company. He's told her how he feels, the only change that needs to happen is the jiggy jiggy.

It's been a couple of weeks. She's asked for a little time away. He gives her that, then next week either gets it on good styleee or puts himself out of his misery and moves on.

It's not negativity, it's a realistic view on a situation where someone who has an emotional vested interest.

When two people like each other a lot, nothing gets in the way (obvious caveats like baggage from previous relationships (marriage, kids, pending divorces) aside).

FYI I asked my sisters, and they said "sounds like a bit of an excuse" - my advice would therefore be to tread carefully so one doesn't end up hurt / jaded.

Usually I'd agree with you, but
Taking thier history into account, I can, in this situation, get where the girl is comming from.
I've been in a similar situation, we got wasted before we even attempted kissing, and what came after was seriously wierd.
we quickly got over it though, and after the initial oddness it got to be quite awsome tbh - in the end it didnt last, but we're still good friends.

my advice would therefore be to tread carefully so one doesn't end up hurt / jaded.

Good advice, would be a shame to loose a good friend due to broken love, if one isnt fully invested.

Mmmm I would like to be a little more positive - but why are you not bed sharing yet? You live together, feelings are out and you know each other well? Surely a few late night deep and meaningfuls must be occurring?

Let's hope the hesitation is down to fear of outcome that sex fucks up friendships ( which in my experience it ALWAYs does) or she maybe worried about turning you down and how it will affect everyone. Ask her best friend, then you will know the truth.
