Trem, think of what I just said as similar to me telling you to recable your xbox and TV. It will probably cost you your sight.

Queers

Anyway, help me, my phone has just said its getting low on storage 'phone storage is getting low' is what it said. So why the fuck doesn't it save stuff to the fucking SD card then? Is there a setting I have to change to enable this or will it just use the SD card when phone memory is full.

Slightly annoying if I have to go and delete apps and the like, quite old fashioned in fact.

The Desire sometimes reports a false "memory full" message...you may have to do a factory reset and start again.

Failing that root the phone and get a Rom that does Apps to SD

It's because he's downloaded every app under the sun.

Trem; the current version of android only allows installation of apps to the phone memory, this is not a lot of space for someone like you who downloads everything in sight. Android 2.2 is out soon and will let you use the SD card for apps. I'd suggest waiting as rooting a desire is not as easy as rooting a hero yet, and there are not many good roms available.

I don't download everything in sight, I aren't a fucking kid you spacker

I have downloaded Google Earth and the interesting stuff like barcode scanner but nothing silly, stuff that they would show you on the advert for the Desire to impress you. Its shocking that the phone has such a small memory.

When the bloody fuck is this update due?

I won't do any rooting, have no patience for something like that tbh.

I've got 20 odd apps installed and have not got low memory, try rebooting as dys said. Check the space usage of each app - I remember you mentioning installing apps not from the marketplace - could be something dodgy.

the phone has quite a large memory unless you have an orange branded phone.

Any chance you're saving the camera photos on the phone storage as opposed to the SD, or MP3's etc?

Nah mate I never bothered with those after our chat, deleted them off my PC straight after.

Any chance you're saving the camera photos on the phone storage as opposed to the SD, or MP3's etc?

But how do I change these settings luv, how do I actually specify where stuff gets saved like camera pics? I have no music on there at all.

Guys you do all need to remember I am coming from a SE W890i and I aren't used to all this jiggery pokery thats why so many (possibly) obvious questions are getting asked by me.

Thanks for your help so far, apart from Meg, he is just due a fanny kick and no mistake

No, the photos are saved on the SD card as default nath.
I vaguely recall the first time I loaded up the camera app on my Hero it double checked that I wanted to save to SD - I could be mistaken though :S.

I did read somewhere that clearing the cache on all the installed apps will help, you have to go through them 1 by 1 to do that though :(

Fast, Trem, go to settings, then applications. Check to see how much space each app is uing. There are some apps out there, especially games that use 20meg or more! Fast are you on Orange by any chance?

Nope Chet im on Voda. Ive deleted a number of apps. Ok maybe I did have a few more than 20 :D Yea there was a couple of racing games that took up lots, they are now gone.

I have 34meg available now on Internal Phone Storage :/ still seems measly eh.

I have gone through all of them at least twice luv and none of them take up much room at all. The biggest was google earth which I have now removed which is a shame as it was awesome. I still only have about 40 mb spare on my phone.

I've got 50meg left and no warnings, I'd just keep google earth and ignore the warnings mate.

In case anyone is interested, my Hero battery life has gone from about one day to three thanks to the MoDaCo 3.2 ROM. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of black magic.

No problem, it's a pretty straightforward process. Plus once you've done one, reflashing with new roms is a piece of cake.

From avforums:

Interestingly, Google have announced that they are going to give up on the idea of selling the Nexus One online themselves. They will instead be partnering with network operators to sell the Nexus.

They haven't said as much, but there is also questions over whether they will actually create a successor to the N1 or simply continue the Android development with other partners as they have done for all other Android handsets.

Interesting times. It wont make much difference in reality, given the low number of Nexus One sales and the fact that other manufacturers can continue the Android drive.

Official Google Blog: Nexus One changes in availability

Seems they will shift the nexus one sales to retailers and the use the google store to sell and showcase other android handsets.

It was never going to work in the US anyway.

They released a T-Mobile only version at the start, then eventually released an AT&T version a few months later. As far as I know T-Mobile just isn't big enough, and everyone seems to criticise AT&T for poor reception. I don't think the US market is somewhere where they're going to start a revolution - doing deals with the networks is far better there (eg. Verizon Droid).

Had this phone been marketed properly in Europe it probably would've had more attention. The fact that the phone had to be imported probably put a bunch of people off, having to pay for international shipping and the cost of importing it probably didn't help. Then waiting 4 months to launch it over here was just a pathetic wait.

They took a half hearted approach to launching this phone, it's hardly surprising that the sales were so low.

Same as you do for any widget on the home screens. hold down on the icon you want to move or remove, it will highlight and grey the rest out, you can move it to other screens by dragging, or drag it to the remove bin at the bottom of the screen.

to add widgets and icons, use the + button on the bottom of the screen.
