Noctua NH-U12S cooler is ace! So quiet, even at full belt! It's bliss after sitting next to a Corsair H100i for a year :)
CPU is a good 20-30C hotter though, but all within spec.

I am tempted by one of those corsair closed circuit water cooling things. The new graphics card is stupidly quiet, as are the fans on my case (fractual R5) Just have the stock intel fan for the cpu.

My H100i was pretty noisy, just saying. I'd say if you're not overclocking then it's not worth it. My other (AMD) CPU was hot to start with and I o/c it heavily.

EKWB do all-in-ones called Predators now. They produce arguably the best water cooling components on the market and they've basically taken their pump, their radiator and their CPU block and jammed it all together into one product. It's not cheap but it's suppose to be the best around and it has quick disconnect fittings so you can put a waterblock on your graphics card and include it in the loop.

Whellp, the new comp is as done as it can be other than getting rid of some win10 gubbins. Unfortunately I don't seem to have a win10+AMD test with my two 970 GTX's but I do have a win7+AMD benchmark. Here it is vs my new build. Tbh I find the numbers quite interesting.

Crossfire (and presumably SLI, looking at your min fps figures) sometimes comes out really badly in benchmarks (and in play as well).

I played through most of Rise of the Tomb Raider in DX11 with crossfire and it was all good but a bit stuttery when it was drawing an environment for the first time (or that's how it seemed to me). When they released the DX12 patch I couldn't use crossfire but the single card was soooo much smoother. Obviously a lower top end but much higher min fps.

Try running Realbench and see how the 5930k does in a more CPU-oriented benchmark (spoiler: I already know it does well).

Why am i getting so shit scores with my 780 gtx @ 1300 mhz? 8 gb ram @ i5 3570k @ 3.8 ghz. Only got 850~. Looking at the scoreboards i should be on at least double the score. Strange.

Nevermind, apparently a process named rthdcpl.exe took up 50% cpu and 60% gpu. Strange thing if a Realtek process would do that. Might be a bitcoin miner?

Had to RMA the first 5930K I had unfortunately. got the replacement in today and it seems to be a goodun :-D

Mild 500MHz oc on the cores and cache, and not too much voltage. Can't comment on stability just yet as I have no 24hr prime95 runs to show, but doze, heaven and WOT seem to work so I'm happy for now :)

Got pissed.

Ordered this.

STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING - Overview

Very few regrets in the morning (hopefully)

Always had ATI cards but changed to the darkside.

Nice. I did the same a few weeks ago. Got the 6GB EVGA GTX 980 Ti SC+ GAMING ACX 2.0+ though. Couldn't find much difference in the cards when hunting around the nets and the power connections were the same as my gtx770.

So far it's fucking awesome. Rise of the Tomb Raider looks fantastic.

True to form though I'm now playing Terraria and Stardew Valley. Like a twat.

My H110 is quiet, but then it does use 140mm fans and I replaced the corsair fans with noctua ones.

NZXT Phantom 820 Ultra+ Tower Case - Matte Black | CA-PH820-M1 AED 999 Qty 1
ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC 4GB DDR5 AED 1499 Qty 2

Got the NZXT Kraken X61 cooler and had trouble fitting in my current case. So when both my EVGA Graphics Card decided to die one by one over the past 2 months I decided on a new NZXT Full Tower. Two Asus GTX 970 will do for now to go with the Z170 Asus Mobo. All working very nicely after I put it together last night. Will run the Steam VR test on it later.

FYI, a new network card is cheaper than a new motherboard, CPU and RAM.

But pointless when the Mobo etc is so old. Not into keeping the dying alive as long as possible. Prefer to keep the update cycle going every 2-3 years. Give the old stuff to my sons school.

Just got one of them thar AMD RX 480 graphics cards to replace my ageing Nvidia GTX770.
Got the Gigabyte reference 8 gig one from Ebuyer for £220 and so far it's behaving quite nicely with a bit more potential in it with future driver updates.
Able to use my HTC Vive without stuttering in the more demanding games now :)

Project Cars (PS4)
G29 Steering Wheel
Wheel Stand Pro

Only raced for half an hour or so, but great fun. Stand is of very good quality, infinitely adjustable, and very stable.
Used some Force Feedback settings from the PCars forum for the wheel, makes it "feel" much better and less stiff to steer.

I don't know how serious about racing you are, but I would STRONGLY recommend you get into iRacing.

My referral link if you wanna use it: Sign up | iRacing.com

the TLDR reason is simple - Assetto Corsa/Pcars are "alright", but the online "racing" is a fucking clusterfuck.

iracing uses a license system, so the only way to race more powerful cars is to qualify by being a safe driver, alongside a matchmaking ranking to split races.
eg 100 people sign up for a session there would be 5x20 races, sorted by your MMR.

It isn't perfect, you get your maldonados and senna wannabes occasionally but it's 10000x better than anything else available.
You can also "protest" the fucknuts and they will get banned.
It is a subscription service and will cost money, but yeah, it's worth it for the above if you ever want to race real people consistently.

I looked at this, but it's PC. Not sure my PC would run it all that well, R7 260X and AMD FX4350 4300MHz. The other problem is of course that I wouldn't be sat downstairs in a nice cumfy chair on a large screen TV :(
I intend to go through the full Career mode on PCars then will go online, if it's shit I might buy a 480, just don't tell Mrs Yuck.

Custom force feedback settings you say? Will investigate.
The force feedback in Gran Turismo 5 on my G27 was completely amazing. Was like you could feel every bump in the road.
Default PCars seems very pedestrian in comparison. There is force feedback but it feels more of a hindrance, and adds nothing to the experience.

There's lots of setting info in various threads in their forums, one specifically for the G29 in the PS4 section.
